YTRRC Hit Bridport
Released On 12th Sept 2026
Honiton Hippo
From Rach: Jack, Katie, Chris and I ran the Honiton Hippo this morning! What a great race - hills, mud and lots of water!! Jack flew round and was 4th overall whilst Katie, Chris and I were a bit more chilled! (there is a photo of Katie sat on an inflatable crocodile to come)
Once we had dried off/ changed we headed to Otter Valley for a well deserved icecream!

Phoenix Running
From Ann: Today was an early start 4am get up to set off to Walton-on-Thames to get my daughter Their phenix teddy. It really is a great team Phoenix Running Ltd there marshals and the lovely people at there aid stations really do look after you and so encouraging, smiley and helpful. I didn't know what distance I was doing as my stomach is still recovering. But I decided I would do a marathon as we traveled all that way. It was lovely weather but still very warm , great scenery and lovely runners seen a few faces I recognized which is always great . I wasn't going for time as I done the last lap with my daughter which she asked to do but very quickly regretted but as a true runner I told her you made the choice you get on with it lol . It is 3 and a half mile loops I think so she done really well and people loved her doing it too and high fived her. Great day out.

Bridport 10k
From Margarita: So, over to Bridport for the next Championship race, with the choice of either a 10K or a half marathon. Four of us opted for the half, while the others took on the 10K. This was actually supposed to be my taper run, getting the legs ready for the big Ham to Lyme challenge next week… although I’m not entirely sure the first 4km being uphill was what the taper plan had in mind!
I can’t comment too much on the 10K route, but from what I heard it was a hilly, twisty and well-marked course. It was also quite interesting as there were plenty of 10K runners mixed in around the course. The half, well… the first 4km was uphill, just to make sure we were properly awake! After that we settled into what can only be described as the magical mystery tour of Bridport and the surrounding areas. Twisting, turning, doubling back and generally wondering whether we were actually going the right way! There were far too many opportunities to take a wrong turn, so a surprising amount of brain power was required alongside the running. We did, however, get a very thorough tour of Bridport and beyond, so there’s that!
Not exactly the gentle taper I had planned, but definitely a good challenge and another one ticked off before what will be a much bigger challenge next week. Despite the humid conditions, everyone did really well and should be proud of themselves. Another Championship race done, another challenge conquered, and somehow we all managed to find our way back to the finish!

From Tilly Kite: Mel and I headed over to Bridport this morning for their 10k race. A few others were doing the 10k, with some others running the half marathon. First time we'd both run the course, a cheeky hill and a wrong turn later, we finished in a good time. Followed by a nice cuppa and cake afterwards in Coffee #1.

Slam Hats
From Lesley: It's that time of the year (already!) to order Slam Hats. To enable me to give the suppliers numbers please let me know if you have (or will have) earned a Hat by completing the relevant races.

Weekend Running
From Andy: Puddletown Forrest- Last long trail run for a few of the Trail Gang before Ham and Lyme next week. We ran 2 laps of Puddletown Forrest and added a 5K to reach 16miles. The route was hilly and mainly on gravel tracks with a couple of trails into the woods. Felicity and Magdalena took a tumble, possibly struggling to keep up with us men , Felicity tripped and slid on her stomach but was back up on her feet in a heartbeat, unlike Gareth’s fall a couple of months ago , he really milked it and was feeling very sorry for himself. Matt completed one and a bit laps before returning to the van with a tight quad muscle. A very enjoyable run with lovely company, before a cold beer at the Sun Inn on the way home.

From Helen: Sunday Run complete - lovely trails through East/West Cokersthanks all enjoyed that this morning. Nice little social after with my yummy new recipe…chai latte cake.

From Sharon: Cornwall version of cavity trays this morning. Currently questioning my life choices as parkrun would've been easier! A beautiful morning to be out despite the hills.

Park Runs
From Steve: Whinlatter Parkrun North East last week and North West this week. I travelled along Hadrian’s wall and arrived in the Lake District for my next stop. Having climbed Helvellyn I was ready (ish) for a hilly parkrun, and this one didn’t disappoint- it was either all uphill or all downhill.
It’s a stunning location in the forest with the high peaks all around but not a pb course and walking was required in places; especially on the final very slippery muddy climb. It is at least a downhill finish!
Unfortunately the weather had turned from yesterday’s clear dry skies. There was horizontal rain and misty skies but it felt great running in such a wonderful environment. Definitely one to do again in better weather. I was surprised and pleased to cross the line in 20th place and 2nd in age.

From Louise: The Pastures Parkrun for Fez and I this morning in Alnwick. Apparently it's the most northerly one in England. It was undulating around the pasture with a heartbreak hill 3 times. The views were fantastic and the sun came out for us but not sure about being let in through 2 gates which were then padlocked before I finished. We had to climb over 2 fences to get out! Also sacrificed our cooked breakfast in the B & B to do it!

From Helen: Clevedon Salthouse Field Parkrun for us this morning to celebrate Dad’s 200th fab achievement followed by a lovely social and delicious brekki.

From Terry: Windmill Parkrun in Tilburg Holland.

From Trevor: Sedgefield Parkrun scenic course.

From Jo: Massive congratulations to Sue Mallinson on her th parkrun this morning at Frogmary Green Farm parkrun. Only took 2 pictures to capture most of us!!

Summer 5k Series
From Graham: A massive thank you to everyone who has helped support the 2026 5k spring & summer series. Lots of lovely comments tonight.
We're now looking for someone to take over this series in 2027. We need to make a decision by November if these races are to continue....

PUB RUN – WEST CAMEL – (10TH SEPTEMBER 2026)
From Mark: PUB RUN – WEST CAMEL – (10TH SEPTEMBER 2026)
Guy led the fast group tonight with Gareth, Ann, and Rebecca. In the not so fast group we had Rachael, Mel, Linda, JC, and myself. Phil ran Alone.
We ran a first loop going westward through the village via Chantry lane and Southmead. Then a second loop going eastward via the church, and some off-road to Wales and back. We finished off with a climb up to the old bakery and back. This is quite pleasant now that the A303 has been moved away from the area slightly.
Afterwards the pub meal was good. Thanks Phil for organising.

Cardiff Fun Run
From Ann: Last weekend I ran the cardiff fun run with my grandson in fancy dress as they said it's encouraged but guess what only us was in fancy dress but people loved we were slinky dog , omg did I sweat and panicked if we didn't do it quick enough I would be late for the 10k so we done really well seeing it was the day after the 15 million Scoville challenge was I in pain yes but was it worth it yes. After we finished I quickly de costumed amd got ready for gardiffs 40th anniversary 10k . Over 10 thousand runners and what an atmosphere, marshals were amazing and the whole event is run so great definitely worth doing . We started running this for my grandsons memory and I will do it every year for him.
