YTRRC go International 2025
Released On 12th Oct 2025
Chicago Marathon
From Rich: A tough day at the office in Chicago!
YTRRC hit the Chicago marathon today, with only 2 club members on parade I’m delighted to say that Sharon Hardy was 1st YTRRC female home in an official time of 6:06:42 and I was 1st male in 3:51:16
Sharon took a tumble around half way, see picture of bloody knee! whereas I just crashed and burned at around 20 miles but I cheered up once I’d got my medal and a beer in my hand.
Two other Yeovilians were in attendance Alan Rideout completing in a very commendable 3:18:09 and Anita Rufus stepping over the line with Sharon. A warm day for marathon running but a really well organised event in a very friendly city, don’t believe everything Mr Trump say.
Bournemouth 10k
From Matt: Bournemouth 10K today with a promise of being flat and fast which apart from a small iinclines turned out to be true. 9 o'clock start on a cool cloudy morning (bring back those warm summer ones). No pace makers so happy I managed to keep an even pace at 7 minute miling for the first 5. Not sure how the chip timing gave me 43-17 but not arguing, that's a 6 year PB . Only disappointment 2nd in age category by 7 sec. Masters standards are getting higher. Good to see Alan there finishing strong in a time of 49 minutes.
Krakow Half
From Margarita: Krakow half marathon. So when you book a holiday then book a half marathon, I am mad, but I really enjoyed that, absolutely amazing running my first ever half marathon abroad . Running through the Old Town as thought the Historic city of Krakow. So happy to get 2:30 as well.
ColyTEN Hilly 10 Miler
From Eleanor: ColyTEN hilly 10 miler for the club hat, from the club Matthew Bambury, Dom Rowe and I took on this brutal trail race. Lovely to see Kevin Burton too. Weather was perfect. Looked like it was going to be a speedy race. Several flat fields then 2 river crossing within the first mile. Then our first hill thought that was bad but 2 of the final hills were short but definitely sharp lovely misty views from the top but had to keep your eyes on the ground as lots of tree route and flint to avoid. I knew I’d be at the back but was determined to finish before the 3hr cut off so happy with 2:34. Ran most of the race with Andrew from Taunton Running forever club and the two lovely tail runners who were supportive and chatty. Great marshals and great race. The lap of the field at the end was gruelling as you could see the finish in the opposite direction Lovely to see Matthew at the finish. Buff and flapjack instead of a medal.

From Mags: Another visit to Dorset, this time we did the Camelot challenge route... with only few wrong turns.
From Ann: Cavity trays 10k social run with a few miles added on for some and what a lovely run it was , marathon Mike and Mark went for a walk together and Phil and Dave went for a run together and my self ,tim, chris, and Julie and not forgetting the lovely hunny went off we had a half trail half road route luckily tim was very kind to us and we went down balls hill Instead of up it much prefer that way lol . We had some amazing scenery sheep ,cows and plenty of dog walkers along the way, with a few fields to go through , we all enjoyed climbing over the electric fence and under the fallen tree. We all went our separate ways at the end but some were going to number 5 for a well deserved breakfast . Thanks guys really enjoyed this mornings run.
From Linda: 6 of us today on the Inbetweeners group. Slightly went wrong but it was all OK. Love this route. Fez and Robert Adams joined but was worried it might be too far and too fast....they were ahead of us the whole time . We didn't do jeffing as there were plenty of hills to walk up. Well done everyone. Thank you Helen Nesbitt for the lush brownies afterwards. Sorry if I've not mentioned everyone.
From Mark: Sunday Slow and Steady around the North West part of Yeovil.
From Ali: Sunday 10K group with a run up through Ninesprings to Stoford, Barwick and East Coker and back along the trails. Bumped into Phil Mac Quaid along the way.

Park Runs
Fom Jo: Lovely morning at Weymouth parkrun. Really pleased with 26:24, 19th female, 2nd in age category & 134th from 449. Then Helen Nesbitt, Robert Adams & myself went for a really refreshing sea swim. Helen & I managed 20mins in the water that was really quite nice. Did the muscles the world of good too . Thanks Helen for driving & thanks Paul Gilbie for the hot chocolate after. A really lovely morning.
From Margarita: Somerdale Pavilion parkrun with Andy Fielding. Well that was fun and confusing. 2 laps with a curly wurly you did 3 times.
From Chris: Bryn Bach parkrun Wales. 2½ laps around a beautiful lake. Over 160 people took part and all friendly, especially the volunteers who all cheered as you on as you went by and finished.
From Mark: Got the sub 20. Thank you Graham, Gill and the Friday track team.
From Steve: Five Arches parkrun. Having driven out last week to do this only to find it was cancelled , this was on my list for today. A nice out and back twice along the old railway line. Happy with 11th place and sub 20 mins after last nights hard track session.
From Stace: Me and my dad running this morning down minehead. I got a 29:46 and my dad got an incredible PB of 34:26.
From Linda: Frogmary Parkrun this morning. I was busy course setting up so missed any group photos. Rachael Jones forwarded their photo earlier before the race. Took a quick photo of some of us when we finished. Kimmi Marie smashed her first hilly trail run and smashed it. Tina Beard was taking ot easy...I know Taryn! She was flying around. I came 1st on my age category. Very happy, starting to get my running mojo back.
From Lindsay: Southall park run this morning and I wasn't last lol. It wasn't a bad time too considering I'm 3 weeks post op. Jeff'd this one 30 to 30 with gentle jog to see how i went. It went okay so all looking good for Weymouth 10 next Sunday, last race for the hat lol.
Street 5k Series
