Kelly Rowsell did amazing to be 1st FV45 in 37:45 ( chasing down Lawrie Morris ). Some fine performances from all our runners , Joanna Samuel got a course PB,
Steve Lye returned to racing following foot fracture couple months ago , Great to see Charles Jardine attend to visit us all. Well done to everyone , apologies if I've not mentioned a notable performance.

Weekend Running
From Gareth: 7 of us met at Lyme Regis this morning for a 10 mile out and back following the Ham 2 Lyme route. The weather was pretty nice, overcast with a bit of drizzle. Darren wasn’t taking any chances though, he was slapping on the suncream!
After a slight problem with a path closure that we resolved with quick thinking, we were off to a flying start. The first 10 miles were pretty good Darren and Felicity running really strong with the rest of us bringing up the rear. When we reached the turnaround point at a farm Magdalena had a dog stick his tongue in her mouth! Then a lovely lady let us fill our bottles, not before she showed us some toilets and other handy amenities!
Heading back towards Lyme we were all starting to feel a bit tired. Passing Lamberts Castle and stopping at a little shop to buy two big bottles of PROPER apple juice to share with friends in the middle of a road. Then it was back through Hole Common where our legs got torn to pieces the first time, where we came out bloodied and battered for second time.
I was assured that it was downhill from now on. This was a lie. It was the final stretch and I thought I would put my foot down and overtake some people. This ended badly with stitch from too much apple juice and jelly babies and I had to walk. Then it was a sea dip for most of us and a drink in the pub after. Great day, great company, great laughs

From Lesley: Just 4 of us in the Sunday jeffing group this morning. We're getting a bit too used to running 8 miles instead of 10 these days . It was a lovely gentle social run too as Tilly & I have signed up for Baltonsborough tomorrow towards our Hat!! After the initial storm it mostly cleared up and became rather warm, particularly for Rob as he wore his waterproof.

From Ali: Just us two in the Sunday 10K group this morning. Didn’t manage to dodge the showers though.

Park Runs
From Jo: Great turn out in the sunshine at Frogmary Green Farm parkrun this morning. MASSIVE congratulations to Taryn Monks on her 250th volunteering, a fantastic achievement. Shout out to Stephen Warren also in his 200th parkrun. Well done all.

From Helen: Massive congratulations mum (aka Lesley!) on completing your 350th parkrun this morning at St Matthew’s Field in Bridgwater what a fabulous achievement, well done you It was lovely spending the morning celebrating with you all and weren’t we lucky with having no rain at all for the run!

From Steve: Trelissick parkrun. My 1st parkrun after breaking my foot and it was a bit of a struggle. As we walked through the National Trust Gardens to the start in the woods the heavens opened. This was the proper heavy big rain drop type that leaves you soaking wet (but welcome after weeks of hot dry weather).
The course descends through the woods on a rutted, uneven track with an estuary to the side and emerges to run a lap of a hillside field with a steep ascent. Wearing Roadshoes was a big mistake and I went over twice on the descent on the now very slippery grass tweaking my recovering foot.
After that I decided to go slowly and protect my foot on the climb back up to the finish. A nice parkrun and one to do again when I’m fitter. The sun is now out and time to explore the delights of Cornwall. Next week’s parkrun is much further north and flatter.

From Margarita: So, after last week I suggested we should try the new Compton Abbas Airfield parkrun , I was imagining a lovely sunny day when I planned it… unfortunately, the weather had other ideas! It’s a nice 2¾-lap run around the airfield, mainly on grass. The race briefing included a reminder that it’s an active airfield and, if a plane was to land, we should move to the sides. Safe to say, I don’t think anything was going to be landing today!
At the beginning, we bumped into Daphne Barfoot , which was lovely, she needed a needed for her Wilson index. The café was absolutely packed afterwards, so thanks Simon for letting us gatecrash! The breakfast was definitely worth getting soaked for.
All in all, a lovely parkrun — even if it was a little wetter than planned!

From Tracy: 300th parkrun in my 12th location today. Pirrama, Sydney, Australia.

PUB RUN – ASH – (27TH AUGUST 2026)
From Mark: While waiting to start tonight, a Hummingbird Hawk Moth came along and started taking nectar from some flowers outside of the pub. Their wings beat at 80 cycles per second (80 Hz).
Rob led one group with Rob, Rebecca and JC. Alison led a second not so fast group with Alison, Linda, Rachael, Mel, Louise, and myself. Mike walked alone, and Phil ran alone.
What a fantastic route it was with a lot of off-road. Running down the hill from the pub we turned left and continued across fields, and passed an allotment before joining the road into Martock. We veered off to the west of Martock and came out at the Church where we saw Rob’s group. Then crossing the road we passed a derelict farm, and ran through an apple orchard. We headed up the road towards Ash, and got onto a track which took us back to the fields by which we had ran down. Thanks Alison for this mostly off-road route.
Afterwards, the pub food was good. Thanks Phil for organising.
