City to Sea

From Sharon: An early start for 3 YTRRC ladies today for the City to Sea marathon. We had sun, rain (lots) and the wind against us. First 20 miles were OK and then we hit the coast path. Brutal climbs with soggy and very muddy paths. Mel Cox smashed it coming in first, followed by me with Margarita Moore snapping at my heels. A long tiring day. Glad its done. I don't know about Mel and Margarita but it's a definite never again from me.

Mendip Mauder

From Tristram:  A few of us did the Mendip marauder 30miler yesterday. The weather was big topic of conversation. But not as bad as expected. I only hid under a tree for a few minutes. Kinda nice not being super hot. The tor was lit up while inbetween clouds. Rather spectacular! Yesterday I was mostly powered by yorkie limited edition biscuit and brownie bars! Myself and JC teamed up and stuck together start to finish Thanks to Dan for the photo.

From Ann: Today I swept for the Mendip mauder and collected all the tape with another sweeper.50 miler and what a day it was we had all weather plenty of hills mud which made a change after all this hot weather . Seen plenty of animals horses cows sheep geese bats when it got dark. Safe to say its been a long day but enjoyed it so much.

Dartmouth 4.5 M

From Lesley: Well that was a wet one . Jon Truscott and I were the only representatives from YTRRC to run the Dartmouth 4.5 ml Road Race and if you know Dartmouth it certainly wasn't going to be flat. After raining all the morning it actually abated for a while before the race started but then it was 3-2-1 GO which was obviously a cue for the rain to start again! We started from the Royal Naval College and down the hill, through the town and out towards the Castle, taking a sharp right turn, up an extremely steep hill, then undulating before a climb up to Townstal and down back into the College. However, we then had to pass the finish to do a long hilly loop of the grounds with a nice half mile downhill finish. I bagged 3rd prize in the female 55+ category meaning there were very of us . Oh and I forgot to take my Yeovil vest, but thankfully had my yellow t-shirt.

Weekend Running

From Ali: Sunday 10K run this morning. Ended up getting very wet with a few heavy showers but we got round eventually.

From Helen: Sunday Club Run complete thanks for this morning allgood support out there! Cheers for the route Joanna! Nice social after with yummy galaxy brownies.

Park Runs

From Jo: Lovely morning with friends at The Great Field parkrun this morning. We got a bit wet at the starts but it was quite nice to run in rain for a change!!

From Ali: A few of the Yeovil Town runners at Frogmary this morning. Margarita Moore and Mel Cox were Marshalls.

From Adam: Thoulstone parkrun with buggy and a flat tyre!! Nice rough two lap course mainly on grass.

PUB RUN – STOFORD – (28TH AUGUST 2025)

From Mark:  Ann ran with Guy in the faster group. Phil ran alone, and I ran with JC in the not so fast group. Leaving the pub, we ran up to the Red House, via Barwick, the Hollow, and the rugby club. We continued to the edge of Yeovil and made our way to West Coker road, via Placket lane. We looped through the houses back to the A37, and ran back down the hollow into Barwick. Seeing Jack the Treacle Eater, as we ran along Rexes Hollow, we made our way to Yeovil Junction. For the last leg we cruised back down to Stoford and the pub.

It felt like summer was over, and I’m sure we will be using head torches again in a few weeks. Nice run, and the food was good. Thanks Phil for organising.
