Weekend Running

From Ali: Sunday social 10K run out to the potato cave near Nether Compton. We all managed to fit in the cave and even found a potato A lovely sunny warm morning. Great effort by everyone today.

Buckfast Abbey Dash

From Kev:  Steve and I had a boys road trip across the border into Devon for the Buckfast Abbey Dash , a rather ambitious title considering the terrain of this multi trail event offering Half , 10k & 5k . Originally an 8am start which got changed some weeks ago to coincide with finish of the Buckfastleigh festival. Temperatures reached 26 degrees and we set off to start our 4 laps , great marshaling and 2 water stations each lap , Both Steve and myself struggled with the hot conditions, The course required some walking and was 1300 ft elevation, really unfortunate that the course was half a Mile short bizarrely, both happy to finish . Steve did a respectable 1:52 Whilst I dragged myself around 2:35

Great day out .

Park Runs

From Ian: Bartley Park (Home) parkrun for me today with a new personal course PB.

From Lesley: A beautiful day, starting with Bolberry parkrun in perfect conditions and amazing scenery. Helen had a great run securing 1st in her age category. We then had a super breakfast at the Hope & Anchor at Hope Cove before relaxing on the beach for a few hours including a swim if course.

From Donna: A 'C' for me in alphabet challenge. Hubby wanted to go to Diddly Squat so was able to combine both.

From Louise: Blandford Parkrun for Me and Rachael Jones this morning. It's not flat but an out and back along a path which is quite scenic and we enjoyed it and got decent times. Had originally planned to park in the Leisure Centre but warnings of £500 fines for non-users put me off and I'm not sure using their loos counts.

From Lindsay: Southall park run for me this morning as my eldest daughter, and her bestie moved into their first flat in London yesterday so it would be rude not to do this one as it was right on the doorstep. This was a lovely flat route round Southall park.. you did one small lap around the small green in the park and then did 3 larger laps around the outskirts of the park where people were learning cricket/bowling and people were working out on the park gym equipment.. there isn't a massive turnout for this one which made coming first lady a bit easier lol, however I still got an age grading of 62% and was 11th out of the whole group..a nice bunch of people and a free apple at the end lol.

From Mafalda:  After a week off after an interesting Friday night , Jeff Watson and myself got our butt's out of bed and went to Street Parkrun. It was a celebratory one - their 300th!!!! It was quite breezy first thing but then... the sun came out and, oh lord it was hot . Jeff still managed to finish just over 24min and I did my first 5k under 40min since October 24. We saw Trevor Strelley there also, on the funny like PE class course around the college fields. It was nice to be back to school All marshals were lovely as always.

From Trev: 300th Street parkrun sign blew over and zero balloon floated away!

From Margarita: Fab Seaton parkrun for Tracy Symes 250th parkrun and she got her PB!! Lush cakes baked by Tracy as well for coffee and cake by the sea.

Awards Night

From Denise: Hi everyone we are now starting to organise the Awards night on Friday 28th of November. It's open to all members of the club. Non-members ie partners' husbands and girlfriends' boyfriends etc will be invited at a later date. We're still waiting on the golf club to get back to us for the price but in the meantime please show your interest and add your name to the list below if you would like to attend. Thank you

Pub Run

From Ann: Tonight's pub run was Sherborne, round two of the deer look out and we was not disappointed. im pretty sure we all managed to see the deer with lovely trails through fields, little bit of forest and of course it wouldn't be Sherborne with out a hill or two and lovely group of people as always with some nice food at the end . You can't beat a social run.

Haselbury Trail Race

From Jo:  There was a fantastic green & whites turn out for tonight’s Haselbury Trail Race, our next Yeovil Town RRC championship race. Now i am not sure if that is because there were points up for grabs for our club championship, or because there were burgers on offer, or if it is because the bar was open - I will leave that one for you all to decide!! .

Either way everyone ran really well & did our club proud. It was also great to see our club members out on the course either marshalling or supporting - everyone played there part, thank you .

Now it was a trail race (although dry with no mud or water to be seen) & everyone ran soooo fast so I finished towards the back of the pack & have no idea on who finished where but a massive well done to all, runners, marshals & supporters you were all a great representation of our club. The red baseball caps seemed to be a hit too, as rocked by us ladies
