Ham to Lyme social 2026
From Kev: After a successful event in 2025 it was a no brainer to go again. Race clashes, people tapering for big events ( for Ann Grace it was a taper ) injuries stopped a couple of people too. Then the weather forecast looked like we could be drenched.
0600 hrs was our departure time from Rangers Hut , Ham Hill , Group photo done and we we're on oTim Mooreseseses who had locked his keys for 2 cars in Ham Hill car , he was running back to Yeovil to get spare keys - unbelievably he would notch up more miles than us running to Yeovil & back then meeting us at Thorncombe in car fRachel Mooresesese. We made great progress through 10 miles in about 3.5 hoAndy Lambertrtrtrt group chasing us down did'nt quite catch before we passed through Crewkerne .
weather was amazing , dry ,cool . several in group had different variations of route and overall it worked well - we lost very little time . pre arranged lunch break was timed to perfection with food ready and waiting saving us at least 30-40 mins . After lunch we said goodbye to Rachel and Tim who headed hAmanda Traversrsrsrsrs joined us at the point for the final 10 mile march on to Lyme . It was great to chat with friends/ club members you'll not often see , swapping stories , keeping people motivated , The camaraderie amongst the group was heart warming , a special shout out to Mike Kendrick ( Marathon Mike) The most experienced member in group based on years on the planet his daughter thought he was mad when he said " yes I'm walking to Lyme Regis " Great solid effort from Mike & he still beat most of us up today to play golf by 0840.
we got into Lyme by 1750 elated , hungry and thirsty , straight to Fox & Owl cellar ,Where we had pizza , beers or soft drinks - lovely that our club chairman Stephen Warren joined us after his marathon earlier that day - Thanks so much everyone - You made it another memorable Ham to Lyme social.

Bluebell Bash 10k and Half
From Paul: An “eager” bunch of YTRRC runners gathered in the deepest depths of Dorset for the beginning of the Bluebell Bash 10k and half marathon. The forecasted rain didn’t appear and the conditions were good. The HM event saw Luke Betteridge storm into 8th place with an impressive 1:39:21 followed by a speedy Paul Gilbie 1:48:08 just 34 seconds in front of Oli Blakey and Kayleigh Philps, Kayleigh coming a magnificent 2nd lady. Next, 1st in her age category, was Rach Logsdon 2:11:50, and finally Mel Cox and Sandra Levett brought the Yeovil team home.
Meanwhile, in the 10K we had Joe Keen, Harriet Watts, Debbie Rennard and Claire Church (sorry if I’ve missed anyone). Joe only went and won the thing in 44:13 and Harriet, a magnificent 1st lady, was 9th in 50:18. They were followed by Debbie (1:00:35) and Claire (1:25:10). Well done all.

Dublin Half
From Tracy: Dublin City Half completed today. Thankfully stayed dry lovely course. Half marathon No 60 done!

NDVM and Relay
From Lindsay: Another day, Another marathon and 3rd fastest time. No 17 in 16 months. Jeff'd this one again and was amazing how many people that went past me at the beginning, I managed to catch up and go past.. luckily the forecast changed and we didn't get the rain that was predicted at the beginning of the week, altho it was a tad warm. Pleased with my efforts and marathon no 27 in the bag.

From Felicity: this morning Adrian Lax, Jack Lax, Deanna Coles and I headed off to Dorset to take part in the north Dorset marathon and relay as a mixed relay team. The rain held off, which was a win! The course is scenic but very undulating! I could have done without the huge hill that was at the start of my leg! But we were all happy with how we ran. 3 of us getting 10k PBs within the race! The only let down was the tiny beer cups at the end! . Team time of 3:07. Not completely sure where we placed yet, will need to wait for the results to be published. Well done team!! And well done to the others from the club who were doing the full!!

Exeter Marathon
From Dan: Exeter Marathon (PB) 3:07…. Let’s Ducking go.

From Graham: A massive well done to these gents for running the Exeter Marathon this morning. 3hrs 7mins for Daniel, and a 2hrs 57mins for Ricky. Huge congratulations to you both!!

Weekend Running
From Mark: Slow-and-Steady in Sherborne this morning.

From Margarita: Using Ally's route and these fab ladies support on the route we did our Sunday Social 10km Jeff to and around the cokers.

From Andy: A cheeky foursome decided to recce the first section of Ham to Lyme - Ham Hill to Crewkerne Station, 9 miles ... I had an idea that with a bit of push and a couple more miles we might catch the walkers and then head back to the station ... but it wasnt to be - they came through the checkpoint over an hour earlier, so we decided to bank it for another day great running Paul Cable (on post-LM legs!), Emma Horniblow and Da Riush Broniszewski.

From Sharon: A lovely route for cavity trays ladies this morning with some trail, road, one big hill and some gentle elevation. Great running from all and lovely chatter. Thanks ladies.

Park Runs
From Helen: Ganger Farm Parkrun for us this morning … …in lovely company, was a nice route and friendly marshals. Enjoy a coffee after and then headed into Romsey for a yummy brekki . Thanks for driving Paul.

From Katie: Test running the new Frogmary parkrun Now a 2 lap course incorporating some of the old course but including a run around a new triangular field ( watching out for the bee hives ) & a new start/finishing point - so no longer a big hill past the chicken sheds towards the end! Very undulating and very scenic, think it's going to be even better than the old route Club tee photo - missed Taryn & Jo who were busy setting up the course.

From Kate: Skinadin parkrun this morning on the Isle of Skye. An out and back course on gravel tracks through a forest with the occasional view of other islands. 2.5k uphill and then 2.5k down. The second half was more enjoyable! Another small parkrun with just 55 runners.

From Kim: Southport parkrun. A 6 hour drive to southport overnight, slept for 3.5 hrs then did parkrun, beautiful setting of Hesketh Park, 525 runners/walkers a lot of 1st timers today. A lovely run around inner circle of lake x 2 then outer. Lovely marshalls.

From Gareth: Eden Project Parkrun today for myself & RJ.

From Linda: Gloucester North Parkrun for my Compass and to complete my Parkrun Challenge of Staying Alive. Up nice and early for the 1.45 hr drive. Steve Membury completed his 1st parkrun....he had no more excuses not to and enjoyed it! Debbie Keeble did brilliantly and both came 2nd on our age group. Great run. 3 laps around a very flat playing field. Marshalls were brilliant. Great parking with toilets. Then off for a lush breakfast at The Aviator on route home. Oh...Triss the dog loved it.

From Margarita: A few of us went to Weymouth parkrun today.

PUB RUN – BRADFORD ABBAS – (30TH APRIL 2026)
From Mark: Tonight, on a warm sunny evening, we returned to Bradford Abbas after, I believe a break of 7 years.
Guy, Stephen, Paul, and Ann ran fast. Rob, Rachael, JC, and myself ran not so fast. Phil ran alone. Mike and Mel had a nice walk out to Thornford and back. Not sure what Alison did tonight.
Leaving the pub, we made our way up to the road bridge over the railway line, and got onto the track that follows the railway line towards Sherborne. We continued to the tythe barn at Wyke, crossed under the railway line and entered fields. We crossed several fields and reached Lenthay Common. At the far end of the common, we turned round and made our way back to Wyke. At the tythe barn we were met by two dogs. An old bull dog, and a large black one. They were ok. We crossed the railway line by level crossing, and made our way back to Bradford Abbas, by a different route.
After, the pub food was good. Thanks to Stephen for organising this one.
