Some Nice Long Runs
Released On 14th Nov 2025
Starcross Shuffle
From Sharon: So with Ellie needing a marathon for her hat and Gemma needing a half the four of us decided that we would all sign up for the Starcross Shuffle. Each lap was 6.6 miles. Gemma hitting her half in a great time. Sharon having decided on 10k then did another lap making it a half.
Ellie digging so very deep to get her marathon distance with Chris encouraging her all the way - now that is true teamwork. What a pair! To clarify the pigs did not run - they were residents at our overnight accommodation.

Gosport Half Marathon
From Kev: Kev and Steve completed their hat trick of half marathons for the year today with a trip to Gosport. After a ridiculously early start we arrived at race hq collected our numbers and did a quick warm up ready for the off. We bumped into Jamie Gulliford who was being paced to sub 1:30 very kindly by Alan Rideout .
A 2 lap out and back course along the seafront with a bit of headwind to battle. A very short pebble section added to the fun! Kevin Doherty came in 01:44:18 and Steve Lye 01:32:33. Jamie tried to hang on to Alan but came up short at 01:32:18 and a great effort.
A well organised event with friendly Marshalls.

Massive congrats to Da Riush Broniszewski for completing his 20miles training today! Thanks all for the company, and Chris for my chai latte enjoyed a lovely social in the cafe after, with my delish Victoria sponge.

From Ann: Helens 12 mile social run to Sutton bingham and what a run that was it felt like the hills were never ending with a fair bit of mud but what an amazing run it was , everyone done amazing on a tough route and a great running group it was and perfect weather too for it . With ninesprings cafe after and Helen Nesbitt amazing cake . Well done everyone .

From Ann: Cavity trays fog run today , whats that coming up the hill ytrrc and what a hill that one is . There was 8 of us today and a very naughty Phil Mac Quaid as he had a fall the day before and should be resting but he's definitely not one to give up and keeps going no matter what. Phil and dave went off together while the rest of us went out towards bluebell lane over to Palmers and down and up that lovely little fog hill along camp road and across to odcome and back home , great running everyone and for some a well deserved breakfast after.

Park Runs
From Lindsay: Frogmary Green Farm parkrun again this morning. Again not many of us today but still a good bunch. I pushed it a little today, and despite it being muddy and slip slidey I still managed a decent time. Great to see others from the club and thank goodness no rain.

From Helen: Today saw us traveling to Netley Abbey Parkrun for me to bag my second N to complete my name challenge woohoo! Mum and dad met us there, as are staying with friends nearby. Thank you all for joining me much appreciated as 2hrs to get to a parkrun is rather a long way so massive thanks to Paul and Rach for driving . Of course, we needed to make it even more worth while by finding a delicious breakfast…which I’m pleased to say I did - Cherrywood Kitchen was quaint and perfect, we all thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast choices I certainly did (Apple and Blackberry French Toast ).

\From Adam: Salisbury this weekend for my 350th parkrun. Many thanks Ali and Rob for their company and support. Flat 4 lap course and a lovely breakfast in Mere afterwards.

From Donna: Myself and Tracy Symes bumped into each other today at Street Parkrun. Both had the same idea to go to Clarkes afterwards. I don't normally like flat patkruns but this one was all on grass so enjoyed. I also got 3 trophy points on 5k App so a win win.

From Margarita: The Great Field Parkrun Over to The Great Field parkrun today with my support crew, managed to snap a few people before we started, sorry I missed a few it was a busy parkrun today. Well done all and thanks Kevin Doherty for marshaling.

From Chris: Radstock Five Arches parkrun. Nice flat run all on tarmac path with leaves making it slippery in places. Plenty of people taking part today. Nice warm up before rugby match this afternoon.

From Steve: Well a 5.45 alarm today to have a cuppa and then run 5 k to the Mosman park run which was beautiful and I actually took in some of the views today and then ran the 5 k back so all good as the threatened rain didn’t materialise this morning. Flat for 95% of the three lap course but a really steep little hill thrown in each lap to test the legs lol . 7 o’clock start today so all done and back to base by 8 which was good.

Pub Run
From Ann: Tonight's pub run was the admiral hood one of our favourite pubs for the food and the lovely wet rainy hills . There was 6 of us tonight , my self Crispian Macpherson and Bungy in the faster group which we done a lovely hilly 8 and a bit miles and mark and JC and Phil in the slitley slower running paces . The faster group done the same route we done on my first ever pubrun which they nearly killed me we had floods wind that time and guess what this time we had rain not so much floods and definitely not the wind but still challenging weather but perfect for hill after hill and this time I dont know how bungy managed it but we didnt get lost so no extra miles. We all had a lovely meal puds and drinks after always a lovely atmosphere and great staff.
