London Marathon     Provisional Places

So the day finally came for this years London Marathon, I made it 10 runners as YTRRC and Nikki did not come up in any search I did. The first Club runner over the line was Gill in a time of 02:54:26 a BP and our fist Male was Mike Scott in 03:34:43. Great running on all that took part. You can all say you were in the Race that someone run under 2 hours for the first time..

London MyWay

From Sharon: Last year I decided to again sign up for London My Way and my route of choice was part of the Ham to Lyme route. Yes it was hot and hilly and I lost count of the times I felt like quitting and there was much more walking than I'd have liked thanks to injury, illness and health issue this year but I persevered and got it done.

Not the London Marathon

From Ann: Early start up for 3am to get ready and travel down to walton on thames to do another great phenix running event not the london marathon run so of course it would be rude to not do a marathon distance . Lovely course out and back with a nice breeze was going great until the dreaded toilet que but had to be done so lost 10 minutes but never mind . Great event run by a great team and amazing medal. Ran into jc as well he was also doing a marathon distance.

Weekend Running

From MarkSunday Slow-and-Steady at Somerton in the Sunshine (SSSSS)

Thanks all, and Lynne and Andrew for the very scenic route this morning. We were joined afterwards by Phil and David for tea and cake in the car park.

From Amanda:  Glorious morning for a 10 mile Jeff. Thanks to Lesley for the route, June for the coffee, Helen for the cake, Mandy for the company.

From Tracy: Lovely mystery tour this morning for the 10k jeffing group. Well done all.

From Linda: Quick early run this morning with Sammy Membury before I make myself bankrupt in the Asics Shop later! Nice mixture of road and countryside.

From Anne-Marie: Cavity Trays Just myself Tim and Honey this morning. Tim took me on a lovely countryside trail nearly 9miles for Tim - his hip was playing up, hope it feels better soon! I ran 10. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Good luck and vibes to everyone running London tomorrow.

Park Runs

From Mel:  Eden Project park run for us today! This was the first time for Carole and she did bp.

From Louise:  Today Rachael and I did our NENDY which was at Southwick Country Park. A beautiful morning for the 3 laps on paths around the Park. I was pleased to finish my Snakes challenge (10 Parkruns beginning with S) and start the compass challenge. May have gone to Mastershoe in Trowbridge where I tried on lots of Hokas and bought 2 pairs which is ironic as hopefully I won't be running for a while after this.

From Kev:  A boys road trip to Blaise Castle parkrun (Bristol). A 2 and a bit lap event around Blaise Castle estate , a mixture of grass, trail and tarmac and twists & turns through a wooded section with various undulations. Whipper snapper Steve Lye kindly offered to chaperone the old guys , first assisting Trevor Strelley with his seat belt , then google maps for me and then car door duties for Richard Dodge . Steve was first in AG with 20:44 ,Trevor Strelley and myself more leisurely. finally we headed to Clevedon for Breakfast and coffee on seafront. Thoroughly brilliant morning in great company. Lovely to see Deborah Stanfield and Dave Stanfield too.

From Taryn: Woolwich parkrun. Pre reverse nodlon tonight. Glorious. Good luck all running this weekend.

From Margarita: Zuiderpark parkrun - Den Haag - our Z today, a lovely parkrun to do. 3 laps today due to some of the park being used for the kings festival, one I'd do again.

From Mags: YTRRC gang ready to do Kraków parkrun.

PUB RUN – MOSTERTON – (23RD APRIL 2026)

From Mark:  Guy, Stephen and Ann ran fast tonight. JC and myself ran not-so-fast. Phil ran alone, and Mike walked alone crossing the fields to South Perrott and back.

It was a really nice warm evening with sunshine and no wind. A lot of bird song along the way.

JC and myself ran the lane eastward out to Chedington and back. Chedington Court is an impressive old building. The route had a bit of climb, and some pleasant views.

Back at the pub it was Thursday Pie night. You had a choice of 3 pies, and help yourself vegetables with roast potatoes, and cauliflower cheese. Very nice at a reasonable price as well. Thanks Phil for organising.

Next week I believe we are going back to Bradford Abbas, after a break of several years. For the not-so-fast group, I have a route which will be mostly off-road, across fields, so it should be nice.
