Jurassic Extinction 100k

From Gareth: 62.92 miles 9432 ft 16hrs 19 minutes 2100 on Saturday evening a few runners were lined up at Nothe Fort in Weymouth, with the task of running to Exmouth.

The night section was really pleasant. Cool and calm, a cheese and ham toastie with some soup in West Bay at 0100, then through to Lyme Regis where the sun was just coming up.

Then the sun came, it was relentless. Baking hot and with never ending steps and knee bashing downhill sections. A bit of time in an indoor checkpoint at Sidmouth gave us some relief from the sun. Then on to Budleigh Salterton for the last checkpoint. With all the elevation done it was a nice downhill to the finish. My legs are cooked.

I’m sunburnt. But I loved (almost) every minute of it. I came 9th overall. Thank you to Rachael Jones was supporting me along the way and managed to get me in the car for the drive home. I was asleep within seconds.

Thank you to everyone who was tracing me and sent me some ‘inspirational’ messages.

Giants Head Marathon, Half and 10k                           Full Results

From Ann: Well today was a fun marathon giants head. myself , Bungy, Steve, Lindsey, Joe and JC done the marathon. I managed to come second lady  and first in my Age Cat, so super chuffed with that and Jemma done the 10k was great to see her. What can I say about the marathon apart from hilly and super hot it was really muggy but once the fog cleared some beautiful views but yet again I missed the Giant as the fog was too thick when I went through that part. I even missed the love station. Bigfeat are a great organization to run for there so organised and great marshals and great aid stations. We had a few drinks after but what a great event. Sorry if I missed anyone .

From Emma:  Really enjoyed the Giants Head 10k and over the moon with my time! Well done to everyone who completed .....there were a few hills!!!

From Felicity:  A few of us headed into the Dorset countryside today to take part in giants head half. It was certainly a hot one but the clear skys meant that we had good views of the giant. Hilly route with almost 2000ft of elevation over a half but a nice route with great views and good marshal support around the course. Everyone ran well. I was pacing my daughter phoebe for her first trail half and according to the preliminary results she was 4th female which is fantastic. So proud of her. Debbie and Kirsty also ran fantastically on a hot day!! Well done ladies!!

Weekend Running

From Tracy: Leading Ali's Group this morning out to Compton Potato store and back. Well done all another hot one!

From Helen:  Sunday 12 miler out to Sutton Bingham - lovely shaded country lanes route! But still that was a hot one ! Lovely social in the sun  after with mum’s delicious cherry cake  thank you.

From Sharon: Started out with two running groups this morning with the faster group not catching the others until Balls Hill. Phil doing his own thing with Dave, Mark and Mike walking together. The slower group taking the time to chat to Gary and Linda - the pygmy goats at Tintinhall Road crossing having battled through some very overgrown brambles and stingers. Then breakfast at No 5 for some.

From Mark: Sunday Slow and Steady.  Run/walk through Yeovil Country Park out to the bridge and back.

PUB RUN – WEST CAMEL – (18TH JUNE 2026)

From Mark:  It was warm, sunny, and still tonight, and we had a reasonable turn out. Guy, Ann, and Stephen ran fast going mostly off-road. Rachael led a biggish not so fast group including JC, Elie, Mel, Angela and Linda. Their route also included off road. Phil ran alone, and I did a lone hike due to Achillies issues again. My route was figure of eight. The first loop included Chantry lane and Southmead. For the second loop I went across fields to Wales, then up to the Queen Camel road and back. Louise and Fez were also here tonight, and Chloe recovering from injury.
