Weekend Running
From Mags: Trail gang had a trip to the Herepath today. Gareth had a hard fall 6... I mean 12.5miles in, but managed to carry on to the car and did 13miles. The rest of us decided to add a few more and managed to do just over 19 miles. We had a nice drink in the Greyhound Inn before heading back home.
From Helen: Sunday 10 miler complete not bad for the morning after the night before well done all lovely iced latte after with the other groups.
From Margarita: A lovely sunny run today, a nice run down with Andy Fielding then covering the Social 10km, as Alison Griffiths wasn't feeling 100%. We did the Riverside path which was lovely in the shade. Andy and I then made ours up to 10 miles.
From Linda: 8 miles only today! The weather looked promising first thing but it decided that the sun wanted to come out. Not too hot. Ran down the river walk. Headed to Mudford Sock. We were lucky to find the footpath there! Then up Stone Lane for our final uphill and dropped down Mudford Road. Lovely company. Thank you.
From Tim: A cooler Saturday Breakfast run from Cavity trays with Sharon Hardy and Chris Greengrow in their shades. No Honey this week as she came up with the excuse of having her nails done. We did one of the club runs down to Yeovil Marsh and up a very warm Stone Lane. Great company and chat. All achieved at least 10k. Met with the walking crew,Phil, Dave, Mark and Denise, at breakfast.
Park Runs
From Donna: Myself and Tracy did Seaton, both were hoping for a seabreeze but there was none, so another hot parkrun. I found the pebbles rather hard going but thankfully wasn't a lot of those.
From Louise: I wouldn't say Street is one of my favourite Parkruns but it does fit in well with a visit to Clarks Village, parking and toilets are very convenient and marshalls are very friendly. Also the flat fields made quite the contrast with Woolacombe Dunes last week . Happy to catch up with Anita and chat around the second half of the run which made it much easier.
From Andy: Today saw us go down to Greendale Farm Shop parkrun for the first time. It's a very warm morning to be on top of the hill looking out towards Exeter. Starting out on a slight slope we did the smaller lap round the animals before heading all the way down the hill towards the lake and fields, two sort of out and backs under trees and over bridges before coming back up the big hill to join the path back round the animals to the finish. It was great to be cheered on by the donkeys . We both got our G for the namely challenge and we both got our Gs for the alphabetter. Would do this one again but on a slight cooler day, it was nice to do it in the summer as we've heard in the winter it can be muddy!
From Helen: Quite a lot of YTRRC at Frogmary Parkrun this morning.
From Kim: 2nd time at Shrewsbury parkrun today as back for another festival, lovely park setting, 3 hills, a little warm still 662 finishers.
PUB RUN – VILLA VERDE – CHILTHORNE DOMER – (16TH JULY 2026)
From Mark: On another hot July evening our Pub Run was followed by an Italian Meal, which was very nice.
Not many people tonight. Stephen, Lindsay and JC running not so fast with me, and Phil running alone. Keeping the Italian theme, we ran the fields to the Roman Villa, for which we had to cross a potato field. Coming out on the road near the top of Ball’s Hill, we then turned left and ran back towards Yeovil. We did a loop around the Brimsmore estate before running through Thorne back towards the restaurant. We passed Phil on the last stretch of field.
After we enjoyed a nice Italian meal. The cold drink went down very well.
I believe the remainder of the Pub Run took place miles away in Merriott.
From Tracy: The alternative Pub run at The King's Head, Merriott with both my clubs Crewkerne and Yeovil.
Forde Abbey 10k
From Margarita: Forde Abbey 10k tonight — one I decided to sit out this time as I’m not a huge fan of the course (and the rivers! ). Instead, I happily took on the role of supporter, cheering everyone on as they crossed the finish line. A huge well done to everyone who took part. Special shout-outs to Joe Keen, the first Yeovil runner home, and Debbie Rennard, who ran brilliantly to win her age category — amazing achievements!
Absolutely fantastic running from everyone involved.
