Babcary 7.5mile

From Jo: So our next club championship race took place today - Babcary 7.5mile road race. The later start of 11am meant we all enjoyed another dry run, even quite a warm run!! The men were all so fast I have no idea who came where & us ladies were not too far behind them. There was som fantastic club running today on what is a known challenging undulating course. I am sure I heard several people say they must do some hill rep work .

A superb club representation & powerful running by all.

Weekend Running

From Taryn: From the Yeovilton Sundays marathon training group. Distances to suit all
Supporting all in their endeavours. Thank you.

For the blog Bungy Williams
From Tim
: A quiet Cavity trays this week with only three of us running most of the Yeovil half town route. Weather was kind with Andy carrying on to complete his 50 mile challenge.

From Andy:  After the usual 6 mile Cavity Trays run this morning, instead of "Breakfast at No5", I went on for another 5 solo miles. My 50miles in February for Pancreatic Cancer UK challenge completed a week early. Thanks everyone for your support.

From Margarita: Well done everyone out 8:2 jeffing group did amazing today, what goes up must come down...we found the hills and the downhill finally.

From Helen: Sunday 12 miler complete that felt tough and very UPHILL!! Well done those doing extra miles beforehand! Yummy lemon drizzle after  thanks for chai latte Anna xx

From Felicity: 5 of us headed out for a long run today. 17.5 miles and over 1000ft of elevation (sorry about that folks). Nice for it to be fairly dry for a change for a Sunday long run!! Well done all and thanks for keeping me company on my magical mystery tour! (We only had to turn around once, which is pretty good going for me ). Sorry, I couldn’t tag Lee for some reason, but he was there!

Park Runs

From Stace:  Eden Project parkrun. With the family off enjoying a bargain £99.99 weekend in Looe, I thought we’d make the most of it and head over to the Eden Project parkrun. What I didn’t realise beforehand is that by taking part in the parkrun gives you early access to the Eden Project for free afterwards, saving myself £42 for the day which was a nice bonus! The course itself was fantastic, although definitely hillier than I expected. Still, I’d highly recommend it if you’re after a great run and a day out combined. Just one tip… make sure you’re happy wandering around the park in your running gear afterwards, Lycra shorts were the outfit of the day for me.

From Louise: Itchen Valley Country Parkrun for the I for Me, Rach and Mel this morning. Great fun, with loads of mud and deep puddles that you had no choice but to run straight through. One lap through the woods which also included some gravel paths and inclines and many changes of direction. As Rach said "it would be a nice summer route!" I don't think I've ever gotten so muddy and that includes The Full Monty and Glastonbury . Plenty of parking and toilets. Would recommend Haskins garden centre for food after. Just up the road and a great selection of cakes etc.

From Helen:  Frogmary Parkrun this morning, missed a few in the photo, sorry! Matt, Chris and Kate were also there!

From Chris: Highcliffe Beach park Run today. It was there 11th event. A great park run to do. Easy to find, and plenty of parking. Free during the months.

Start midway on the tarmac path and run down to the shingles/sand for a long stretch to the turning point, running over, shingles, loose sand and a short rocky path. Reach the turning point and back upon yourself, halfway back up a short but steepish hill keeping right for 1st lap, before heading to the 3nd turning zone. Keep going until you return to the hill again, this time keeping left to head down hill along a 100m ish straight to finish.

Beautiful views throughout the run, on a good day spotting the Isle of Wight. Definitely worth a visit in the summer for the swim in the sea.

From Lindsay: The great field park run this morning. Not a bad result seeing as I started quite far back and had to dodge some muddy puddles and manoeuvre round some walkers at the beginning. Did not plan on being speedy but when you have a great supporter, Jon Norris, you got to put some effort in lol. Lovely to see some peeps from the club today. Well done all.

PUB RUN – SHERBORNE BRITANNIA INN – (19TH FEBRUARY 2026)

From Mark:  There was a big turnout for the Pub Run this week (I wonder if it was because of the food?).

Just six of us in the not so fast group tonight (Rob, JC, Mel, Nikki, Tim with Honey, and myself). We ran a clockwise loop staying within the town. So leaving the pub we ran down Westbury, turning into Ottery lane, and then running along Lenthay road. Near the end, we turned right and headed northwards up to Bradford road, and continued via Sheeplands, Coombe, and Priestlands to Bristol Road. Generally heading east, and then south through houses, we made our way to Oborne road via Castle road. We then headed back via Newlands and Cheap street, making it just over a five mile run.

I thought the food in the pub afterwards was very good and plentiful. Thanks Phil for organising.
