Slow and Dirty 19k
From Ann: My self and Alan travelled down to north dorest to do the slow and dirty 19k race . It gets its name from the historical nickname for the railway line, derived from the constant stops and aged rolling stock used when it was operational. It was a trail running event with a tiny bit of road it takes place along the north Dorset railway, following the route of the old Somerset and Dorset railway line. The start location was Sturminster Newton and the finish was in spetisbury. We had plenty of gravel mud , water but a lot of fun was had we had out race briefing and then told to go no count down or walking to start line so the start was chaotic but that added to the fun . We seen kirsty as she was doing the canine race so they went 15 minutes early . We got an amazing medal pen and mulled cider and mince pies at the end . It was such a fun event and would definitely recommend it . But note to self no Mrs clause jumper dress as I sweated my butt off but people enjoyed the costume and I got are you hot a million times . Thank you Alan Hutchings and Deborah Hutchings for taking me and transporting us back to the start to get home.

Baltonsborough 5 miler
From Mel: Things we do for a Christmas Pudding Baltonsborough 5 miler!

Comunifit 5/10km
From Margarita: Comunifit 5/10km today. Trying to get everyone together for a photo at the beginning was difficult but we managed it eventually. That hill to the golf club is always tough... especially when the 10km ended up being 11.5km. Kudos to Andy Fielding for his longest run to date. Thanks Katie Stokes for driving and fabulous reindeer.

Weekend Running
From Sharon: Penultimate cavity trays run of 2025 treating all to a hill or two (the others were just inclines). Sunshine, some rain and a bit windy at the top at Odcombe. Lots of smiles and chatter despite the hills. Thanks all for your company. Merry Christmas.

From Mark: Pre-Christmas Slow and Steady from Somerton. Nice hike around the lanes with good company, followed by tea and cake.

From Helen: The last Sunday Club Run of 2025 thanks all for your company throughout the year! Blessed with yummy glittery brownies and delicious tiffin courtesy of Andy and Lawrie today thanks guys! Merry Christmas everyone!

From Linda: Last 8 mile run for 2025! Jeffing with Lesley and Rob. Nice route around East Coker and West Coker and back again. Lovely coffee and cakes at the end (that is the real reason I run). Merry Christmas everyone. See you next week for the Scavenger Hunt.

Park Runs
From Steve: Only the 4th time this new parkrun has been held. A bit cold and crispy to start off. Enjoyed the 3 and a bit laps - across a playing field and then a tarmac path past allotments on one side and marshes on the other (14/205 and 2nd in age).

From Linda: Some of us braved Frogmary Parkrun this morning. Although it was a bit muddy, pleasantly surprised it wasn't too bad. My trainers didn't need a massive wash. Beautiful day. Some of us didn't get the memo on Xmas outfits! Not so busy. Happy with my time as I was taking it easy. Well done everyone.

From Felicity: We arrived too late for the photo but pheebs and I also braved Frogmary this morning in our festive attire.

From Helen: A local ish parkrun for us this morning - Shepton Mallet, due to many of us eating and drinking too much and not sleeping enough last night a nice coffee after and some stayed for brekki.

From Louise: Happy that the sun came out for us at Salisbury Parkrun. Really enjoyed the scenic 4 laps around Churchill Gardens. The river was so high and the car park had flooded at one end which caused an issue but we got there with 15 minutes to spare. Thanks to Rachael for driving. It was definitely my best run since surgery.

From Margarita: Seaton parkrun for a few of us this morning. Cold but dry, really enjoyed that and just what was needed after a few drinks last night. Toast in coast after.

PUB RUN – West Chinnock – Muddled Man – (18TH December 2025)
From Bungy: The Sat Nav said there were some road closures on the way to the Pub but managed to get there with no issues. Eight of us turned up and Steve and I took of on what was supposed to be an 8 miler but the road down to the A356 was flooded and it looked deep so we went back up the hill and then down Poop Hill. However at the bottom of the hill we saw the water and started to run through, it got a bit deeper nearly up to the waist but as we got near the end it got lower you can see it the phot. It turned out to be a hilly 5 miles. I have has worse floods at this Pub but still a laugh and a good meal after.
