Ham to Lyme Ultra 2026
Released On 3rd Jul 2026
Ham to Lyme 50km
From Darren: From the moment we dropped off Ham Hill, gliding behind Joseph Keen—aka Gel Man—it was clear this run wasn’t going to be ordinary. Joe was on some kind of mission. He managed to ingest seven gels on the way (don’t ask how, don’t ask why), and when he mixed them with Coca-Cola, he basically achieved lift‑off. Meanwhile, I stuck loyally with Tailwind… at least until Joe started preaching the gospel of cider at the final aid station. And honestly? What a thirst-quencher. Whoever decided to serve cider at mile-whatever deserves a medal. The final hills were savage—proper leg‑wreckers—and the overgrown forest sections felt like fighting through nature’s booby traps. But somehow, we clawed our way into the top 10.

From Andy: Ham and Lyme Ultra 2026 We set off as a group of 5 that eventually became 2 due to the heat, hills and Paul Gilbie accident. Massive congratulations to Paul for not quitting after that horror fall. I struggled today, I really don’t run well in the heat . We all had a great day out running to the coast, finished with a sea swim and two pints . YTRRC done very well today with some podium finishes .
Thanks Dave Urwin , great event.

From Helen: Ham to Lyme Ultra complete what an epic day! Loved every minute. It did get hot out there but we smashed it! Special thanks to our awesome little running gang for the great company and a laugh as always along the way! Wouldn’t be the same without you all. Nice to see other YTRRC members too along the way and at the end too, some just coming down to support and join us on the beach and in the pub after so thank you all too woohoo great achievement, well done us all now to relax and enjoy a Sunday rest day tomorrow.

From Lucy: 50k Ham to Lyme Ultra It was absolutely scorchio at times, with some seriously tough elevation! Throw in battling through overgrown undergrowth in places, it definitely kept it interesting!!
The volunteers were nothing short of incredible. Thank the Lord for the salt tablets, endless electrolytes and the amazing support. They were absolute lifesavers out there … And who knew watermelon would become the ultimate ultra running essential?! Dad came along for the ride again, and having him with me every step of the way made it extra special he would have loved it out there yesterday. The only thing that didn’t quite make it to the finish was my watch battery. It waved the white flag at 28 miles! So I’ll never know my official distance from my watch, but I know one thing… I made it to the finish line!
A brilliant welcome into Lyme, an amazing atmosphere and another beautiful medal to add to the collection. What a day sore and slightly sun cooked, but loved my first ever Ultra and already wondering when the next one will be!

From Lindsay: Another ultra in the bag (no 28) and no 17 since last Jan. Ham Hill to Lyme Regis, 31 miles, you were brutal , hot and hilly but enjoyed most of it with the best running crew..well done all.. just a week to recover till the next ultra. 1 marathon and 2 ultras in 4 weeks lol.

From Amanda: So proud to have made the finish line with JC on his 500th marathon.

From Ann: Wow what can I say about today apart from ham to lyme ultra and what a hot one it was. it was amazing as always great aid stations, great marshals and a great course less hills would be nice . Was definitely feeling the heat but I managed to get first female don't know how but I did go me lol well chuffed seeing I was taking it easy with next weeks event.

Weekend Running
From Lesley: Thanks Rob for a lovely route this morning for our jeffing group. It was hilly with lots of trails but very enjoyable with great company, thanks all.

From Donna: Thank you to Sharon for taking on Ally's social this morning. Was good to get out even though it was warm and humid.

Park Runs
From Louise: Really enjoyed this Parkrun today. 2 and a bit laps mainly on grass with some paths and a wooded section. Thanks to Rachael for driving us the 75 minutes to get there. Good cheap parking, a café and toilets next to where everyone gathers for the start. 360 runners there today. Obviously I was well down the finishing order but Rachael ran with me, I didn't need to do much walking and pleased that my Parkrun times are heading in the right direction.

From Sharon: Upton House parkrun for me today. Was hotter than expected. Followed by visit to family.

From Jo: Several attempts to Carrie all the green & whites at today’s Frogmary Green Farm parkrun.

From Helen: A super morning for several Yeovil runners at Weymouth parkrun. Well done all, particularly Robbie, who came 2nd overall. Followed by a lovely social swim afterwards. Unfortunately, we didn't have Helen or Joanna there for a swim photo but we all ventured in - honest

From Kim: Greendale farm parkrun, early start, lovely place with animals ,was going ok time wise till hit 'the hill ! ' fabulous race director..very funny chap.

From Margarita: After an epic journey yesterday and not getting to the accommodation till 2 am. Rothay Park parkrun for an R for my namely and an R for Parkrun. A lovely 3 laps around the park with an out and back section. You start on the field and run towards the path, I found a very muddy section, even the rain didn't spoil it. Also bumped into another Yeovil with Paul Sparks which was nice. It was their 250th parkrun so spot prizes were being given out for every 50 finishers, I was 11 away from 200. Found a lovely place for breakfast afterwards.

PUB RUN – BRADFORD ABBAS – (2ND JULY 2026)
From Mark: It was a lovely evening for a pub run. Sunny but not too hot, and cool in the shade. Apologies for not getting a grip tonight, as I’m not completely sure who did what, it was quite a big turnout. Alison led one not so fast group which did a scenic cross country loop out to Thornford and back. Guy, Ann, and Gareth ran fast. I think Lindsay, Rob, Helen, Elie, and Stephen ran in another group. Phil ran alone.
JC and myself did an easy going run/walk across the fields to the edge of Sherborne and back. A couple of the fields were a bit of a fight to cross due to overgrown vegetation. We passed through crops of maize, and a herd of docile Friesian cows on Lenthay common. I was good to go cross-country in such sunny weather conditions.
The pub was nice. Good food. It was also Gareth’s birthday, and a cake with lighted candles was presented after the meal. Thanks Phil for organising.
