Portland 10k

From Steve: This morning at 10.30 a small and select group Steve Warren, Lindsay Saunders , Joseph Keen and Matthew Bambury and his Daughter Lauren I believe headed to the beautiful isle of Portland for the 10 k around the rock.Well Joseph was keen as always and raced of in glorious sunshine that actually made the run very warm indeed linz and I settled into a steady rhythm and it was actually a very relaxing run in the sun with Matt and Lauren running together and finishing with a smile . Sorry no photos as of yet but will try and find some in a bit.

Quantock Beast

From Margarita: So this non trail runner is at it again with another trail run. This time with the Quantock Beast where myself and Beata Zuchowska-Marsh were the only ones from the club, a race with hills, mud, lots of hills and some more mud. Wasn't feeling my best but still completed it.

Sumer 5k Series

From Tim:  THIS EMAIL ONLY AFFECTS THOSE ATTENDING THE YTRRC 5K SERIES (RACE 4) ON 10TH JULY 2024

As you are all undoubtedly aware England football team is through to the semi-finals which is to be played on Wednesday 10th July with kick-off at 8pm.

YTRRC have been asked by a few runners if the race could be started at 7pm rather than 7.15pm to allow everybody the opportunity to watch the football.

It has therefore been agreed by YTRRC that THIS WEEK'S 5K WILL START AT 7PM. Registration will close at 6.50pm.

This is a one-off change to the scheduled race time.

The children's race will therefore start 15-20mins earlier than usual.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused. YTRRC thank you for your understanding.

The Piddle Wood Plod 10k 2024

From Jo: Today some of us ladies, & Gareth Davies headed over to take part in the next championship race, The Piddle Wood Plod 10k 2024. To say it poured down as we started was an understatement!! . Obviously heavy rain makes for more mud & you all know I hate trail which makes the sign they put out a little uncaring . Anyway, take me out of it, the rest of the green & whites smashed it. Well done to Suzanne Conlon for coming in second Lady & to Ann Grace for first senior female. Gareth obviously made it look like a walk in the park but secretly think he missed the rest of his trail crew . Elie Morgan, Kirsty Norman, Linda Membury all cruised over the line. It was great to see Anita Garrett & Rachael Jones come over the line together laughing & giggling . The be spoke hand made medals by the school kids are great & I like the way you get a water bottle (full) to wash down your bottle of local cider.

Weekend Running

From Lesley: Another Sunday club run complete running our Montacute/Balls Hill loop incorporating an off road section through Montacute Park. It was lovely to have Simon & Nikki join us today as well as the company of everyone of course. We arrived back at the cafe for coffee and Helen 's shortbread just as the heaven's opened (how lucky were we).

Park Runs

From Ali: A trip to Exmouth Park run this morning on a sunny but very windy morning. A lap along the seafront starting and finishing by the big wheel. A stop for brunch and ice cream on the way home.

From Jo: It took 4 different photos to get everyone from Yeovil Town RRC at this mornings blustery The Great Field parkrun but great running by all.
