Cheddar Gorge Challenge Marathon

From Felicity: Cheddar gorge challenge marathon. Challenge by name, challenge by nature! I think I very much underestimated how hard that would be!! Still, I made it and I was told at all the aid stations that I was first female for the marathon!! Need to wait for the official results to confirm but maybe!

Well done to all the other Yeovil runners who smashed this tough course on a hilly day!

Yeovil Hospital Charity

Our #SaturdaySuperstar this week goes to the Yeovil Town Road Running Club who organised yet another very successful Santa Dash event last year for Yeovil Hospital Charity. We are delighted to announce they raised an incredible £2,000, which will be split between our wonderful Stroke and Diabetes teams here at Yeovil Hospital

Thank you so much to Yeovil Town RRC for their amazing continued support!

Neroche 10km

From Margarita:  Over to Ilminster today for the Neroche 10km. This is a little race from the primary school, raising funds for them. A select few of us did the 10km and Debbie Dare was our lady in the 5km. Welcome back to Alan Hutchings, first 10km and race in 6 months. . This is a mixed terrain route so it was the question of what shoes to wear at the beginning. The route took you through fields, road, footpaths, grass, up hills, rutted sections, roads and fields before a nice downhill section, oh and the sun came out. We got a lovely medal and bottle of cider at the end. One I'd do again.

Weekend Running

From Rach: Martock 10k recce with these lovely ladies this morning.

From Helen: Wow what a morning  2x laps of The Monty! Awesome job guys. Absolutely loved it  started off with 20 of us completing the first loop in reverse, then 7 stopped, another 2 joined briefly taking us to 15 for some of the second loop the correct way! We all did amazingly, thanks for company and laughs along the way. Thoroughly enjoyed my cider after (thank you Dom!) and my cake and the yummy pistachio cakes Kev kindly provided us too, thanks again Kev, they were lush .

From Ali: A warm hilly and sunny Sunday run this morning. Bumped into Linda Membury in her garden. Well done to Tracy Symes and Margarita Moore who made it a 15 mile route for their training run.

From Margarita: When you say to your friend I need to do 13 miles this week and your friend goes, I need to do 15 miles, I'll join you. So we started off the morning 5 miles before social jeff with Ally, then join Ally for her run and then peel off to do another 5 miles. A lovely run in great company shame we found so many hills and the sun was so hot. My June Half done plus a few extra miles. Thank you Tracy Symes for your company and keeping me company, I enjoyed it.

Park Runs

Steve: Newtown Parkrun, A trip over the border into Wales (Powys) whilst in Shropshire. A nice run out and back (twice) on a tarmac path along the river Severn. A nice haul for my parkrun challenges too- date bingo, stopwatch bingo, letter N. Wanted to test my fitness - went out too fast and slowed down in last mile - 7/196 and 1st in age (20:12).

PUB RUN – YETMINSTER – (11TH JUNE 2026)

From Mark:  Before I write about the Pub Run tonight I have to say the drive home afterwards to Sherborne via Thornford was uplifting with those stunning views. Tonight we returned to the White Hart at Yetminster after a break of many years. Thanks to Daphne for organising and leading one of the groups. It was a big turn out with a few faces new to pub runs. I’m unable to give a complete account of all the names.

Stephen, Guy, Ann, and others made up the fast group. JC led one not so fast group, and much of the route was off-road and quite adventurous. Daphne led a second not so fast group that split into faster and slower factions. Phil ran alone. Running with Daphne, we did a clockwise loop of around 3.5 miles, which incorporated Ryme Intrinseca. It was mostly roads, with some nice paths near the start and finish.

After, the pub was packed and noisy, which is good to see. It was nice to return after so many years, and the food was good.
