Race the Tide, Chase the Train 7 miler
From Suzanne: Put my racing stripes on for the first time in a while to do Race the Tide, Chase the Train 7 miler from Blue Anchor towards Minehead and back. Really nice event, very flat but mostly sand so it was tough on the legs. Never been so thankful to see a stretch of tarmac The wind was relentless on the way out but was a nice push on the way back. Had my support crew on the steam train who met me at the finish. Really recommend but maybe Luke Betteridge can run it next time and I get the train.

Communifit Camelot Challenge Half and 10k.
From Felicity: A few of us headed off to Sherborne this morning to take part in the communifit Camelot challenge half marathon and 10k. Though temperatures have come down a bit compared to earlier in the week it was warm and hilly out on the course. Some of those hills really were killers!
Everyone ran really well but a special mention to Joseph keen who came in 1st place!! still waiting for official results for everyone. A fun if challenging race and one I’ll definitely return to! Well done all! Sorry if I missed anyone from the photo.

St Agnes Trail Pursuits Half
From Steve: Hot, Hilly and hard but stunning scenery. Expansive views from the Atlantic coast, Tin mines, woodland, quaint Cornish villages and up St Agnes Beacon twice. Over 2,200 feet of elevation made for a tough but rewarding run. I had a trip at 5 miles and ended up stuck. In a bush on the edge of a drop. Fortunately a kind runner stopped and pulled me out. The course was changed slightly from last year (which was a bit short) and they’ve over compensated this year with a long course, but it is a downhill finish at least! Probably my favourite trail half. Struggling with fitness at the moment so very pleased and surprised to have finished 32/311 (02:18 finish time shows that it was a tough one!)
Now for some R&R Cornish style for a few days.

Weekend Running
From Ali: Sunday social 10K this morning with some trails out to The Helyar Arms and round Ninesprings. Still humid even though the sun wasn’t really out. Well done to Tracy Symes Rachel Moores and Tim Moores for meeting us at the cafe after their run in from Crewkerne of 15 miles

From Lesley: We started with seven this morning for our Sunday jeffing run and finished with a group of four and a group of three. In fact Amanda and Rachel did extra before and after (a very well done to them); Tilly did 10 miles and Linda, June, Nat and I did 8.5 miles. Well done all in great company. We finished, of course, with coffee and cake at the cafe. Thanks for the photos Linda.

From Helen: Sunday Club Run - The Full Monty route loved it … Great 10 miles in great company - 13 of us - thanks for the idea Paul and for leading us Dom. Lovely social outside the Visitor Centre cafe after, with my yummy flapjack!

Park Runs
From Terry: Morecambe Parkrun. I've escaped to the north for a few days, so made parkrun comeback after a few months, nowhere better than Morecambe along the bay. 27.04, 3rd in category, should have been 2nd, lost a place in last 3 strides.

From Kim: Whilst away at festival did local parkrun in park called the quarry, quite warm so glad of alot of shady parts. Biggest one i have done with 760 runners & walkers.

From Margarita: Debbie Dare and I went over to Longrun Meadow parkrun today, for a run in the sun. My first time doing this one and I enjoyed the two gravelly laps. She only told me before we got there that it was her 25th so huge well done on your 25th parkrun milestone. Also it was nice to bump into a few of the others who were also celebrating milestones. I think Helen Nesbitt had the photos and information on those.

From Helen: A Marvellous Morning of Milestones……Kelly’s 100th, Mel’s 50th and Dan’s & Deanna’s 25th parkruns all celebrated at Long Meadow Parkrun well done to you all! Followed by one of the BEST EVER brekki’s at The Corner Club.

PUB RUN – SHERBORNE, BRITANNIA INN – (28TH MAY 2026)
From Mark: In the not so fast group tonight we had Rob, Kirsty, Lindsay, JC, and myself. I improvised a clockwise loop which involved running up through Cheap street, then out through Coombe, and up Sandford Orcas road. We took the footpath along Quarr lane, ran through the disused quarry, and crossed over the Bristol road. We took the path past the allotments and headed eastwards, and southwards through the houses. We crossed over the A30 main road, turned left, and ran eastwards to the footpath at Dodge cross. We followed the footpath to the farm, and out onto Oborne road, where we turned right. We then ran towards the castle and followed the river Yeo through the field, to the railway level crossing. From here we made our way back to the pub via the park, and town centre. Thanks Phil for organising.
As the pub kitchens were out of action, some of us had fish n chips on the grass outside of the abbey.
