An Easy Run in Egdon

Released On 19th May 2025

Uplowman 10k

From Rach:  Kate and I took an early trip this morning to the Uplowman 10k. After checking the weather all week and coming to terms with light rain we were ready to go.. only to get to the start line and have the heavens open on us for atleast 2 miles  the sun then came out for the remaining!  Overall, a friendly and well organised race taking you through Tiverton over the River Lowman through farmland and pretty cottages before heading back to the village hall.  10/10 T-shirt designed by a Tiverton Harriers member (who is also a local artist!) Would recommend for next year

Wells 10k

From Margarita: So after Egdon Easy 10km last night took the legs out for another spin today, anyone who's done Wells before know about the hill, really enjoyed this one and happy with my time.

Weekend Running

From Ali: Lovely morning 10K social run today. A run taking in both of the Cokers with some trail and a few hills. With great company and cake.

From Sharon: Just the four of us (5 if you include the non club member called Honey) for cavity trays run this week. Tim, Steve and Honey running ahead of Sharon and Mel both of whom were taking it easy following a weekend of hiking for Sharon and a two week holiday for Mel. Lovely chatty run and the rain stayed away.

From Andy: Great run this morning from Mudford Rec with the Sunday 10min/m group, fairly steady (most of the time!) and shorter route to allow for those that ran Sat eve. Looped around Yeovil Marsh and Mudford and back up the infamous Primrose Lane with a quick loop around the rec to round up the mileage for some .... Missed Helen Nesbitt on the photo front as I'm no selfie expert. I didn't have my glasses on and it was bright sun is all I'm saying! everyone seemed happy enough, stopped for cake/coffee after at Mudford rec cafe including Helen who told us she had in fact done her own 5k this morning (evidence?) and therefore earned a slice of cake ... nice to see you out running and hope to see you back soon Amelia Grace. Sorry we missed you just Rob Jones ! Ann Grace Tim Willis Matthew Bambury Paula Vine Chris Homewood Natasha Turner Da Riush Broniszewski

Egdon Easy 10k

From Jo:  So last night saw many green & whites in Weymouth for our next championship race, Egdon Easy. Or as most of us know it, the fish & chips race!! This is a fairly flat course which also makes it a fast one & as there were points on offer, competition was fierce throughout our male members . Well done to Ann Grace & Luke Betteridge for fist club members over the line. For all other finishing places we will have to wait for the results as there were loads of us. Special mention to Da Riush Broniszewski who actually got his medal & t shirt this year as he managed to do the proper route (although we are all sure he must have done last year too!!!).

As we all started to finish we nipped across to the other side of Weymouth for our famous fish & chips although Helen Nesbitt did want to ask Jenny’s Ice Cream Van to head over with us so once we had finished eating she could have an ice cream .

The weather was kind to us although we did have to contend with the wind along the seafront & there were some great times posted. Thank you to all those who also came to support, it was great to see & hear you all over the place, even if some of your photos Robert Adams were questionable . I hope you also enjoyed your fisnh & chips, which t be fair, was probably your main reason for coming, wasn’t it Phil Mac Quaid?!!

Everyone did our club proud as always & it was a great night.

From Lindsay: Egdon easy 10k last night where 31 members turned up from the club which was a great turnout. Some of us panicked at the beginning when we felt a few spots of rain, especially Helen Nesbitt who realised she had forgot her hat which was in the car up the road. Luckily for her, and me, it didn't come to anything and the weather conditions stayed nice throughout. Unfortunately I struggled with this race, despite getting a pb of 52.39. I has stomach issues (will not eat 2.5 hrs before a race again) and achilles issues (story of my life since last year) but with fantastic encouragement from my partner Stephen Warren, Robert Adams and Chris Holt (who tailed me for quite a while before taking off past me when I had to stop for a mo) I made it over the line with a pb. Well done to all who raced it. Its a great event x

Park Runs

From Paul: After a 10 hour drive yesterday and before Edinburgh marathon tomorrow, we managed to fit in Vogrie Parkrun for our “V”. What a stunning course! Probably our favourite so far. Very scenic around Vogrie Country Park. Just a gentle jog round, a loosener you might say, and a well deserved coffee and scone to complete the morning. Now on to Edinburgh to check things out for tomorrow.

From Lindsay: Quakers walk park run in Devizes for the Q this morning. How lucky am I that my bestie only lives up the road in Chippenham so her, and her family came to join us..this was a nice 3 lap course with a very slight hill 3 times. We then went to the New Society for breakfast and tried an iced matcha lol. Great morning and now on our way to Weymouth ready for the Egdon Easy 10k this evening.

From Linda: Quiet a few of us at Frogmary Park. Lots of running and marshal duties from the club. First time for me doing the token sorting. Over 300 runner. Not a bad turnout.

From Adam: Waterakkers parkrun in Breda, Netherlands. Beautiful flat course around lakes. Very friendly people.

Dorset Mud Run

From Ann: Yeovil Town RRC and family members does Dorset mud run. We started as a group of 6 but unfortunately Anita got injured and what a trouper she was to do as much as she could ,walk and send us on our way. We didn't want to leave her but carried on with her in mind and what a team we were . We had so much and as you can see really was one with the mud lol . This is what part of being with an amazing club looks like all ages and abilities supporting each other and having new running experiences what ever they may be.

Pub Run - Admiral Hood

From Ann: Last nights pub run was at the admiral hood and what a run it was. We had two groups a walking slash running group with Rachael Jones John Curtis , Sue Mallinson , Kate Gowers and what a route they had with some amazing scenery ,stepping stones and beautiful horses they done just over 4 miles . My self ,bungy , Matthew Bambury ,oli b, and Kayleigh Philps ran in the faster group we done just over 7 miles and what an adventure not long into our run of course we had some amazing hills, not long after that matt had a run in with some lose dogs then onwards and upwards literally this was a run that just kept on giving . It was going to be six miles but when we seen the mud we thought better off it and changed course slitley. The views were amazing ,we came across an amazing bee hive horses stunning hills . we thankfully missed the cows this time but poor Kate and gang got surrounded with some very loud and frisky ones it was a beautiful hot evening with an amazing meal as always after with amazing company.
