Dorset Dreamy Run

From Ann: Well what can I say the Dorset dreamy run was so much fun we had 6 pub stops with mostley coke . We started at 12pm and finished at just before 6 we had a fair bit of running with an equal amount of walking . We had hills , bridges, fields , forest and a lot of sun . There were about 19 of us . Half way we had a cream tea done by @martinchaffey and family . One of the best social events have done with amazing people.

Weekend Running

From Mags: Last training run before Ham to Lyme next week. A little heavy on elevation and temperature but very enjoyable. Leigh tested his new club inspired coloured trainers (#salomonw@nker) to go with his vest. Finished off with a lovely picnic and sea dip on West Bay beach ⛱️ 🌊

The Heron Half

From Margarita: Five of us took on The Heron Half today in the humid temperatures. Taking in parts of the Yeovilton 5k and the Easter Bunny route which confuses the brain. Some of the flat parts were definitely hills in my eyes. A nice medal and goodie bag at the end. Thanks to those from Yeovil who I saw marshaling, the support really help.

Park Runs

From Amanda:  Etna Parkrun tourists - tough running in thick volcanic ash but super friendly.

PUB RUN – SHERBORNE (FISH N CHIPS) – (26TH JUNE 2025)

From Mark:  On a nice warm sunny June evening five of us turned up at Sherborne Abbey for the Glastonbury week Pub Run. Phil, and the crew are helping out at the festival. Guy, Ann, and Mat, ran fast, and did the very scenic deer park loop.

Kirsty and myself ran not so fast. I improvised a route as we left the town centre. We ran up to  , and continued up past the old kennels. We crossed over the Marston road, and then went off-road. We reached the top of Trent Path lane, and turned right. Crossing the Marston road again, we continued along Coombe lane, and reached Ambrose hill before the golf club. Turning right, we descended Sandford Orcas road. Turning left, we climbed Quarr lane, a narrow path shaded by woods. The path opened up and we descended towards the old quarry. For the last leg we ran down the Bristol road, and Cheap street, back to the abbey.

After the run, it was nice to have fish n chips in the open air in front of the abbey.

From Ann: The great deer run was Tonight's pub run in Sherborne with chips in the Abbey after. It was a planned 5 miles but of course being bungy it ended up being 6 miles but what a route it was some really fun hills and some amazing views , we seen sheep, ducks, and the best of all a herd of deer what a sight that was oh i nearly forgot i was thinking to my self no stingers tonight but i thought too soon as 5 seconds later there we were in the thick of them . The sun was out with a lovely breeze , my self , Matthew Bambury and bungy was in thw faster group and Mark Larcombe and Kirsty Norman was in the sliley slower group what a lovely evening it was.

Forde Abbey 10k

From Ann: Well what can I say around 18 of us thought it was a great idea to do a midweek race , forde Abbey 10k . I know this is a popular race for a lot of people it's a cross country race held on ford Abbey estate in west Dorset. It's a very scenic route through woodlands ,meadows and a river with challenging features that included mud, rocky tracks, and hills with 2 river crossings . There were great marshals , a water station and a really great atmosphere with food stalls and icecreams if you wanted but after my giant one at giants head I don't want to see another one for a very long time . A few people rolled there ankles me included because a lovely person decide to stop straight infront of me and another went straight into me down a really rutted and stoney track safe to say this wasn't a great run for me . Everyone done amazing and made our club stand out for the supportive and great team we are. Tom Allen done amazing with this being his first race since coming back to Yeovil Town RRC. Everyone should be extremely proud of how well you all done . Thank you Deborah Hutchings for the amazing photos and support great to have you there cheering the team on.
