A Windy Weekend

Released On 5th Oct 2025

Clarendon Marathon

From Dan:  Clarendon Marathon completed in 3:58. Beautiful trail route from Salisbury to Winchester along the Clarendon Way. the route passes through picturesque countryside. With a cheeky 2,600 ft of elevation. Highly recommend. Really decent event. Will be definitely doing this event again at somepoint.

Mother Tucker 10k

From Ann: My self and Alan Hutchings travelled to the mother tucker 10k race this morning definitely a race I would highly recommend its very undulating a lot of hills especially a really fun steep one in the first half a mile we even had the first proper bit of mud this year but the scenery was amazing the wind when we was high up took your breath away at times but a course we both really enjoyed and would definitely do again we even saw Catherine Rands and her daughter doing her first 10k there. We got a lovely medal and goody bag . I came second for age only 8 seconds away from first but I was pleased all things considering. Alan Hutchings done really well as well. And thank you Deborah Hutchings for the amazing support as always and thank you both for taking me along.

Park Runs

From Jo:  “O”hhhhh how pleased we were to get the notification that Oxford parkrun was actually on despite storm Amy, as we had all arranged a whole weekend up there just for us all to bag our “O”!!!! We had a short walk from the hotel to the park & at this stage we still didn’t know if it was going ahead or not. We did have a plan A & plan B!!

Steve Membury was busy directing us to the park while I was on checking the notifications. Everyone cheered as I announced “ladies & gentlemen, we are getting our “O” This is a nice route around a massive park. Two very short laps around a field & then two longer laps around the park. The Marshalls were so friendly & we all enjoyed the sunshine. Thankfully while windy, it was not as bad as we were all anticipating.

Watch this space for further posts & photos on the rest of our weekend.

From Adrian: G ticked off the list, interesting course but wouldn’t recommend road trainers, first fall at a parkrun for me ( apparently it’s my age not the trainers)

From Louise: Haldon Forest Parkrun for the H for me today. Really pleased they went ahead despite the 45mph winds. Parking is £4 for an hour, £5.50 for 2 hours. Lots of loos, very friendly with a lovely route on gravel paths through the woods with fab views at the top of the ridge. Enjoyed it.

From Tracy: Double parkrun for Germanys Unity Day. Celebrating Hilary Askew 450th and my 100th different location. Great fun meeting lots of fellow crazy Brits!

From Adam: Moors Valley parkrun today- lovely one lap flattish course on gravel paths through the forest and round the lake. Very busy! £2 to park if you leave by 10.45.

From Taryn: The weather was kinder than it could have been. Enjoy your running wherever you are.

From Margarita:  The Yeovil contingency at The Great Field parkrun today. I did the First Timers Brief for the first time and well done to Felicity Came for being the 26 minute pacer.
