A Very Busy Weekend
Released On 18th Apr 2026
Manchester Marathon:
From Gareth: Some of us ran Manchester Marathon today. Apparently a flat course. We definitely do not agree.
Darren Ragnar Mackle finished in 3:09:31, got a PB.
I finished in 3:12:18, 15 minutes off my PB
Rachael Quick finished in 4:59:25, smashed her first marathon.
Rachael Jones finished in 5:44:30, took 24 minutes off of London last year.
Great event. Will I be back next year? Who knows.

Newport Marathon
From Paul: Four of us turned out today for Newport marathon. After the obligatory group photo, outside Lidl, we went to our pens. The sun was shining and there was plenty of support.
Felicity shot off and I followed but stuck to my negative splits strategy so soon lost her in the distance. The course was flat and well marshalled and I’d definitely recommend it.
Three out of the four of us got our PB, Felicity 3:25:45 and I managed 3:27:22 and felt good all the way so decided to push the last two miles.
Rachael got 4:22, 6 minutes off her best time despite losing the first two months of training due to an injury. And Tim saw us all home safely with a 4:40 even though he’s been tapering since Christmas. All in all a good morning’s work and well deserved all round.

The Beastly Half Marathon
From Jo: Talk about doing the hardest one first!!! I am really not a trail runner & 14.72 miles is a fair bit longer than the half marathon that I signed up too . Still, it is for charity & The Beastly Half Marathon, Bodmin, you certainly challenged me!! Can’t say I have ever finished a race up steps & into a church, but this one did!! The weather was lovely, the marshals were fantastic & the whole event was really well organised. Great t shirt & lovely medal, but getting out the car after a 2hr journey home was interesting!!!
Just Bristol, Exeter & Bridgwater left - all for an amazing charity after being given a great opportunity with a great company. Ssshhhhh, don’t tell anyone but I would do this one again

Cracovia Marathon
From Mags: Cracovia Marathon this morning, what an event! Thousands of people enjoying the sunshine and 20 degrees temperature, while running around beautiful Kraków. Amazingly organised, fast course, refreshments stations every 3 miles and a cracking atmosphere! We're both really chuffed with our performance, I managed to get 3:44:40 and Leigh was just happy he got around.

Spring Challenge
From Lindsay: Sooooo after a quickie park run yesterday I thought what can I do today whilst @freyasaunders_11 is out celebrating her dad's birthday, oh yeah I'll nip to Devon and do another marathon lol. Spring Challenge day 2 marathon no 27 done beautiful day for it and so lovely watching my first 100th marathon presentation, well done Baz, great achievement.

Ilminster 10k
From Margarita: A few of us went over to do the Ilminster 10km today in the sunshine. A tough hill to start followed by a few more hills with a nice downhill back into Ilminster. A lovely medal, cider and goody bag.

From Sarah: Beautiful morning for the undulating Ilminster 10K, those hills were a challenge!

Night Run 10k

From Linda: Beautiful morning in the countryside for a jeffing run with Linda, taking in Ladies Walk amongst the lovely display of bluebells. Thanks for the company and thanks to Helen for the yummy coffee cake.

From Ann: Getting the miles in ready for west county 100 miler. a nice 20 today, managed to blag the full Monty route with Dom as he was doing it 3 times and I definitely couldn't be trusted to do it on my own was a lovely morning for it and definitely a lot nicer than doing it in Dec.

Park Runs
From Margarita: A few of us went to Shepton Mallet parkrun today.

From Mafalda: This Saturday we kicked the laziness in the but and made our way to Southwick Country Park Parkrun! We could feel a bit chilly just before starting, but soon it was quite hot, and I did regret not taking water with me. My shoulder also hold on, so guess I can run again !
It is a really lovely course, although a bit slippery at times today, and marshals were all positive, smiley and encouraging!

From Adrian: Q done

From Gav: Parkrun tourist this morning at Cheltenham, 2 laps mostly on grass. Nearly 800 runners. As nearby Gloucester cancelled. Visiting Mum for the weekend whilst the rest of the family females are in London for Mamma Mia the Party for Holly’s Hen Do.

PUB RUN – WEST CAMEL – (16TH APRIL 2026)
From Mark: On a fairly nice evening, a few of us came out for the pub run tonight. Guy, Stephen, and Ann ran fast. JC and myself ran not so fast. Denise and Mel had a nice walk. Phil ran alone. I was told that the fast group went off-road and got lost quite a bit.
The route for not-so-fast incorporated two loops, and a bit extra added on at the end. Firstly we ran the lanes out to Queen Camel going via Wales. Then, coming back, we continued out to Southmead. Turning right, we ran through the village heading back to the pub. Then, to add a bit on, we ran north up Howell Hill. This turned into the old A303, and we turned around just past the bakery. Thanks Phil for organising. Notwithstanding the pie mix up, the food was good.
