Pen Selwood 10k

From Jo: Today saw our next Yeovil Town RRC championship race, the Pen Selwood 10k. This is a great local race although far from easy!! A few of us raced today as it had been advertised as the last one but during the race brief we were told it may not be, sorry Lesley Nesbitt 🤦‍♀️. 7 men & 6 women lined up to bag ourselves points & I have to say, competition was fierce throughout the men!! Well done to Luke, Gareth Davies & Joseph for the top three places. Extra congrats goes to Gareth who won fist make vet 👴🏼!!
I was pushed all the way to first for the ladies with Amanda second & Linda Membury a close third. It was great to see Terry Byrne travelling to join us & to Matt Driver who bravely took on Andy Lambert’s place as he double booked - can’t wait to see what better option he had 🤷‍♀️.  Despite the challenging course, everybody absolutely smashed this one in todays drizzly weather. Thank you to Rachael Jones for the support & photos & to Da Riush Broniszewski for a few more photos.  Well done all, we had a great turn out & did our club proud. Here is the Thursday  evening & our next championship race by the seaside in Weston Super Mare 🌊🐟🍟🏃🏃‍♀️💚

I would bring you all back to Yeovil Saturday evening. in return for not having drive down Saturday and getting driven home Sunday we need family members to drop you/ friends  to start point on 4th ( loose plan )
then ideas for food after walk ?

Steaming to the Coast

A ride on the steam train from Minehead to be dropped off at various stations depending on distance you’re running, to then run back to Minehead! A lovely day out, friendly, well organised event. 2 others from the club (I think?) Saw Angela and bumped in to Kelly at the end who said Lawrie was running the marathon.

Club Champs

From Lesley: Club Championship update - Portland Round the Rock 10k scheduled for 6th July has been cancelled.

Park Runs

From Kay: Bushy Parkrun today...great run with my daughter, lovely park with deer & parrots, plus super friendly people as always.

From Chris:  Nice parkrun in Oxford today with TerryandKaryl Gill. Enjoyed the run, A bit clustered at the start, but then developed into a nice run around the fields with plenty of space. Welldone to Terry for placing one infront of me, hes been trying so hard this year! And welldone to Karyl for achieving a second best PB! Always enjoy a good parkrun.

PUB RUN – KEINTON MANDEVILLE – (10TH APRIL 2025)

From Mark:  Three people commented tonight that I had stopped doing write ups for the Pub Runs. So by popular demand here is a write up for tonight’s Pub Run.

On a gloriously sunny and warm evening, eight of us turned out for the Pub Run at Keinton Mandeville. The fast group comprised Guy, Ann, and Stephen. Phil ran solo, and in the “not so fast” group we had Elie, Kelly, Mel, and myself.

Leaving the pub, we headed south through the village, and turned left at the junction with the phone box. Following the road round we went under a railway bridge and headed down to the A37. For about 100 yards extreme caution was necessary as we went along the main road. Turning right, we then continued down the lane towards Charlton Adam.

Improvising the route, I decided to go off road at the edge of the village. So we ran south, through yellow fields, then turned right, and reached a shaded path between houses. We continued to the church, climbed up some steps, and went off-road again. We passed what seemed like an agitated horse of the racing variety. It was thrashing its tail around, and snorting loudly. Probably just showing off. Reaching the road, we looped back to the village and headed north crossing a second railway bridge. After a mile or so we were back in Keinton Mandeville, and headed back the way we came to the pub.

We all sat round one table to eat. The food was good. Thanks Phil for organising.
