Stroud Half Marathon

From Rach: Stroud Half Marathon completed this morning for Gareth & I The high winds and hills made for an interesting race but we both enjoyed it!

Valencia Superhalf

From Sarah: A calm 26° made for a very hot and challenging Valencia Superhalf today. I wasn't feeling it from the get go having been laid low with a horrendous cold for two weeks, but proud to finish and Superhalf No 4 ticked off ... 3 Superhalfs in 5 weeks so time for some more chilled running for a while. I've learnt that heat and recovery from illness certainly impact life as an older runner with diabetes.

The Stickler

From Andy:  Oli,Kayleigh,Felicity and I took on the 31st Sticker trail run. The Dorset 3 peaks challenge took us up Okeford, Hod and Hambledon hills, the weather was sunny but the wind picked up, I’m not sure how Felicity wasn’t blown away descending the last hill. Oli was the first YTRRC runner over the line in a very quick time, Felicity was just ahead of me and was first in her age category, then Kayleigh came in a few minutes behind us. We definitely recommend this trail run, give it a go next year. We stopped of at a local pub on the way home for a well earned pint.

Sherborne Halloween 10k

From Margarita:  The one that felt more like a social from the moment we arrived! Kept bumping into everyone during the build-up and again just as we were about to start. Communifit were hosting their Halloween version of the 5km and 10km races, with a good few of us out representing Yeovil today!

As usual, the course was pretty much uphill for the first 5km , but once that first half was out of the way, the wind stopped battering us quite so much and thankfully the rain held off! Andy and I were running with Katie and Taryn, playing a bit of cat and mouse along the way! Karalia did amazing catching us up too! And thanks, Andy, for dragging me up that last hill!

A strong effort from everyone who took part, with some great running all round! Special shout-out to Abby and her fab skeleton costume , and Connor who turned up as an axe murderer! Definitely got into the Halloween spirit! Also, a huge shout-out to Rebecca Wigmore who completed run 293 of her running streak! What an achievement! And a big thank you to Debbie for capturing some cracking finish photos! Always lovely to have those memories of race day! Well done, everyone! Another race in the bag!

Weekend Running

From Helen: Sunday Club Run complete - and only a brief shower towards the end before a downpour when finished how lucky were we! Great to have some runners back joining us a few of us clocked up 14 miles and few clocked up 18 miles and a few 10 miles - well done all … and as always a lovely social after whilst enjoying Kev’s yummy pistachio cakes and my yummy Cadbury caramel brownies thanks all, now to chill.

From Lesley: A 99% dry, lovely social Jeffing Sunday run this morning out to the Cokers. Coffee and Helen's yummy brownie in the cafe after. Thanks all for your company, and Helen for the cake.

Park Runs

From Nicki: I decided to do Longrun Meadow this morning! The paths were a bit wet in parts but luckily the weather stayed dry for most of the park run! By the end it started raining though but it was a good course, albeit a bit slippy in parts!

From Helen: Longrun Meadow Parkrun for us 3 this morning lucky with the rain holding off until the end of our run a lovely girlie catch up morning which of course had to include a scrummie sharer breakfast - super stacks and pancakes!

From Trevor: Quakers walk parkrun done for the Q and no rain.

From Steve:  Compton Abbas Airfield Parkrun. My foot was cleared for takeoff so I headed over for my 100th Parkrun. 3 circuits of the airstrip and then it was the final approach to land at the finishing funnel. (13/167, 2nd in AG).

From Louise: Just Me here today. I really like this one, especially running along the Strawberry Line. Good parking providing you get there early, toilets and café in the pavilion. It stayed dry for the Parkrun but the rain set in soon after. My only previous time here was in January, must come in better weather next time. A walk around the reservoir would be really lovely on a nice sunny day!

From Adam: A slow rather wet Cranbrook Country park run today. Nice flat course. My 385th with 81 locations.

From Jo: Took a couple of attempts to get all is is at today’s The Great Field parkrun but think we got there in the end!! We were quite lucky with the weather & although we did get a little wet, it was not as bad as it could have been!!

From Margarita:  Andy and I didn’t really have a parkrun in mind for today, but when I heard through the grapevine that it was Tim's 300th parkrun, we of course decided to join him in Weymouth to quietly celebrate Huge congratulations, Tim, on an amazing milestone! It was a proper soggy one this morning, with plenty of rain to keep us on our toes! But that’s parkrun for you — rain or shine, we turn up! Lovely to bump into Alison, Robert and Tracy. Rachel was out parkwalking and Hilary was a barcode scanner. Always a bonus seeing familiar faces! Another Saturday, another parkrun adventure!

PUB RUN – BRADFORD ABBAS – (22ND OCTOBER 2026)

From Mark: It was the first time we ran a Pub Run in the rain for a while. Guy and Ann ran fast tonight going across fields to Sherborne and back. Rob ran with Jen. Alison led not so fast tonight with Rachael, Louise, Mel, JC, and myself. Phil ran alone.

We first ran out to quarry lane, and did an anti-clockwise loop going past manor farm before returning to the village. Next we ran a smaller clockwise loop coming back to the eastern side of the village.

The pub food afterwards was very good. Thanks Phil for organising.
