Weston Super Half Marathon
From Rach: My first half marathon in a lonnnng time! This was a great event despite the rain, headwind and undulating course (even had a short section across the beach) Over 2500 runners and well organised!

Man V Horse
From Luke: I don't normally post about my runs, but yesterday I took part in Man V Horse England in the Quantocks. Amazing scenery, great trail route and the excitement of being chased by horses (and occasionally overtaking one when they got tired). There were around 100 runners, 56 horses, 23 miles of beautiful trails and a fair few hills. Really recommend it Man V Horse (England) - Quantock Hills
Edit: I forgot to mention it's all for a good cause too.

Great South Run
From Steve: I have a reputation for arriving early but I was in good company today. With 25,000 runners (8 YTRRC I think?), and it seemed most also using the park and ride there was not much time hanging around before the start. A flat course taking in HMS Victory. I went out too fast today so the last 3 miles were a bit of a slog but happy with 01:10:40. A long walk with the road closures to find the bus stop back but that helped stretch the legs!

From Sandra: 3 Yeovil contingents at The Great South in the wind and rain today. ( sooo cold afterwards!! ). Please do note the sign above us stating “fast pace runners”. We have never been within striking distant of such a sign before . Well done you guys. I did see another Yeovil top pass by as i was having a moment with shoe and sock off and standing on an ice pack to cool down my bursitis that was on fire .
Well done everyone at Great South today. X.

Weymouth 10m
From Linda: Weymouth 10 mile race, last one of the Championship season. One of the last chances to get a 10 mile race in for the hats. The weather was awful and windy so we all knew we would need to get changed afterwards. I really enjoyed it and did it in 1 hr 40:05 and I walked some of those hill. As the start and finish had to be moved due to works at the Pavillion they decided to chuck in a hill....twice! To make up the mileage. It was a tough one. Well done everyone that turned up. I think we all were questioning our life choices. Lindsay Saunders did very well considering she was meant to take it easy.

From Margarita: Weymouth 10 miler - absolutely mad, I'd already done my 10 miler for my hat so thought I'd do this one for fun. The weather was not fun.

Weekend Running
From Ali: Sunday wet run this morning. A few hills in and around ninesprings this morning to stay a bit sheltered from the rain but worth it.

From Helen: What a wet one thanks all for joining me this morning, was kinda fun even if we did get soaked and climb a shed load of hills.

Park Runs
From Linda: Frogmary Green Farm parkrun run this morning. A bit chilly and those hills don't get any easier. Great marshalling and running by all. Thanks Steve Membury for being our photographer.

From Trevor: Torbay Velopark parkrun.

From Helen: Moors Valley Parkrun for a few of us this morning…it’s a lovely course and we all enjoyed it thanks all xx

Oh and beautiful sunrise on route too!
From Chris: Seaton park run this morning, a bit of a change from Shepton as planned, suffered cramp for the majority of the run. One of my happy places and a great place to go, free parking courtesy of Tesco such supporting marshalls.
Fairly busy with runners and public. Some tight passing in places. All round disappointing time for myself but enjoyed being back to my 2nd home.

From Steve: Well a little ride to the local park run this morning in weather very much like home which isn’t really a suprise as we are on Philip Island for the Moto gp weekend. Little note when visiting Australia some park runs start at 7 and some start at 8 so definitely an early start. Hilly course on loose gravel so definitely testing out and back and trail shoes needed . Having a great time and more runs to come hopefully if I can ride to them with out getting soaked lol

From Jo: Ahead of tomorrow’s Great South Run, Da Riush Broniszewski & I smashed out a very fast Lee on the Solent parkrun. Although a nice flat course, the wind challenged us!!

Weston 5
From Terry: Western Super Mare -Dave Jones prom run series, finally managed to get a 5 mile for my hat Great to see a fellow YTRRC runner - Andy well done.

PUB RUN – HARDINGTON – (16TH OCTOBER 2025)
From Mark: The not so fast group tonight comprised JC, myself, and Tim with Honey. Guy and Ann ran fast. Phil ran alone. Gareth and Rachael had a walk.
The not so fast group ran an anti-clockwise loop, firstly climbing the long hill, and turning left at the top. As we continued along Coker ridge, there was a fantastic sun set to our left. We passed the lights of Yeovil to our right. At the end junction, we turned left and descended the valley side. Then climbing the other side we reached Hill Cross. Turning left and continuing eastward we passed Phil. We continued past the southern edge of Hardington, and reached a junction to our left. Descending, we passed through Lyatts and reached Hardington Moor. A left turn and a few hundred yards took us back to the pub.
Unusually we were seated out in a back room for the meal which was good. Thanks Phil for organising.

From Ann: Tonight was Hardington Mandeville pub run and what a beautiful evening it was . Jc, mark, tim and honey ran together. Rachael and Gareth had a lovely night time walk phil had a lovely walk on his own, and my self and Bungy had just over a 10k run we managed to see the sun setting as we got to the top of probably our 4th hill safe to say we definitely got more than enough hills in but we did have a few good down hills too. Was nice to see the bats flying around not so much the constant cars wich was unusual compared to other times . Everybody had a lovely meal at the end all ways good food there.
