Black Sheep Bimble

From Ann: Saturday was a super early start up at 3.30 am to get ready and get to Walton on thames to do the black sheep bimble out and back, phenix running event. They really are a great team to run for this is only my second event with them and what can I say other than super supportive, extreamly friendly and really well run team. I managed to do a marathon in 3.52.48 seconds and seeing as I stopped for pee breaks and really didnt try as I was using it as time on feet for my big event coming up. I was super pleased . I met some lovely people along the way , chatted with a few and the usual well done to every runner even if they weren't in the event. Its a lovely course just over 3.68 miles out and back along the Thames , you had rowing clubs going out the whole time boats along the cannel the wild life was amazing the swans ducks and baby ducks were super cute. Plenty of dog walkers, and walkers in general made it a very plesent run but after a marathon i decided I needed a change . Martin managed a half marathon which was great. Definitely going to do more of there events as there do good and the medals are amazing.

Reading Half Marathon

From Sarah: An encounter with a pregnant ewe while shepherding last year meant a deferred place for the Green Park Reading Half Marathon today. Great organisation and amazing support the whole way on a route with a few climbs. A beautiful day which saw me achieve 1:59 dead, 4/50 in the V60 category and 459/2394 female. Super chuffed to achieve 2 sub 2 hour half marathons in two weeks at 62 .... time to chill. Lovely to meet a younger member of YTRRC who did a fab 1:42, but left before telling me his name!

The Cerne Giant

From Bungy: Today I did the Cerne Giant, it is organised by the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA), they let runners do anything over 20 miles. This normally gets their numbers up. They are very well organised and the Aid station have the lot, seats, tables, top up your water, sandwiches, cake and even Tea and Coffee. This has a 20 miler and a 30, I say 30 but I made it nearer 32. The route takes in most of the Giants Head route so most of the time you are going up or down. At the end you get a hot meal with a pudding as well and a Certificate as no medals sadly.

Weekend Running

From Ali: 10K social run this beautiful sunny morning. Hills and alleyways along the way. Welcome to Adam and Sammy.

From Helen: …for our 10 miler todaywell done all, especially those doing extra miles beforehand! So lovely to sit outside in the sunshine for our social after! Thanks Lesley for the delicious lemon drizzle and Lawrie for the yummy tiffin  and Kelly for the chai latte  and for the photos of mum and I in our matching tops.

Park Runs

From Tina: Just Linda and myself early at frogmary this morning. More definately arrived later though.

From Andy:  Hove Promenade Parkrun. I went down to Brighton on Friday afternoon for a Land of the Giants gig and "a few beers" with my daughter , so I thought " I could do a Parkrun if I can get up on Saturday"... it was a two lap sea front course the sun was shining and there was a light cool breeze I finished in 33min. 925 runners that was the biggest my best 5k in a long time.

Back in 3 weeks for the Marathon!!

From Jo: Great to see so many green & whites at today’s Weymouth Parkrun. A few of us braved Tuesday cold water after. We may need to check in with our Chairman Stephen Warren to make sure his hands are still attached to his arms.

From Donna: Went to Greendale Farm Parkrun and bumped into Jonathan. This is definitely one of my favourites. One small loop around animals and then a bigger loop past lake then one steep hill that zapped my energy. Both myself and Jon got first in age group and Jon was 10th overall. Happy to get my 'G' for the alphabet challenge.

From Terry: St Mathews Field PR, nice three lap course. No 150 for Kaz & I.

From Margarita: Absolutely over the moon today. The Great Field parkrun, overall parkrun PB & 5km PB, thank you so much to Tim Moores for being my pacer today.

From Adrian: Brutal but beautiful apparently the hilliest parkrun in the uk. Had a lovely surprise meeting 3 friends that were visiting from the Isle of Wight doing the same , getting the D ticked off the alphabet challenge.Need more hill training before going back but the volunteers were wonderful. Thanks Durlston country park parkrun.

PUB RUN – MUDDLED MAN – WEST CHINNOCK – (19TH MARCH 2026)

From Mark: Running fast tonight were Guy, Stephen, and Ann. Not so fast were Rob, JC, and myself in one group, and Alison, and Mel in another group. Phil ran alone.

Setting off in daylight we ran northwards, and turned right. We climbed Smoky Hole lane, and met the fast group at the top of the hill. Turning left we continued along Pease hill and descended towards Chiselborough, with a fantastic sun set ahead of us. Running down into the village we looped past the church and pub and back into the village. Turning right we climbed again and met Alison and Mel coming down the hill. At Smoky Hole lane we turned right, and made our way back the way we had come.

All nine of us were eating tonight, and the food was good. Thanks Phil for organising. Thanks Alison and Ann for providing some of the photos.
