PoznaƄ Marathon 2026

From Mags:  Another great Polish Marathon completed. Amazing atmosphere, great course (including running through a football stadium) and gorgeous medal!

Cardiff Half

From Tracy: Cardiff Half this morning to complete my Super Half's. A bit warm for me but pleased to have completed the series and have a very nice medal for all my hard work!

Weston Half Marathon

From Margarita: Today was the Weston Half Marathon, and I think we all arrived with a few nerves for different reasons!

I was slightly anxious going into it as I’m still recovering from an Ultra just two weeks ago, as well as getting over a cold. Alan was feeling nervous too, as this was his first half marathon race of the year, while Jo was battling the dreaded man flu! The race started with a little 2-mile loop before taking us onto the sand. From there, we headed out along a mixture of undulating hills and footpaths before eventually coming back onto the sand at around 8.5 miles. Then came the long stretch out towards the turnaround point… which honestly felt like it was never going to arrive! Once we finally turned around, it was back along the prom before finishing on the pier.

The finish line goodies were definitely worth it — a lovely medal, a race T-shirt and a goodie bag waiting for us. Now onto the achievements… Alan absolutely smashed it! He was the first Yeovil runner over the line, which was a brilliant confidence boost for him. Jo and Andy both came in under 2 hours, which is absolutely amazing! Huge well done to both of you. And me? I managed my second-fastest half marathon of the year! I am SO chuffed with that. Not necessarily the race I felt the most confident about going into it, but definitely one I’m walking away from feeling proud of. Another race ticked off, another medal added, and plenty of achievements to celebrate!

Super City Half

From Sarah: Superhalf Marathon No 3 completed in a very hot and sunny Cardiff with a PB of 1:58:33. Happy days! Next stop Valencia in 3 weeks for No 4

Dorchester 10k and HM

From Lesley: Amazing morning at Dorchester 10k and HM. Three doing 10k and three doing HM. Karalia and Darren Howells and I had a great 10k. Darren Mackle smashed the HM coming in around 1:30, Rebecca Wigmore and Angela Suter smashed their first ever HM and are now 'hooked'. A lovely well organised route around Dorchester and Poundbury (I didn't realise you could run so many miles within Poundbury). Excellent running all and a lovely social morning - thanks for the company.

Darren Mackle took a selfie of us all as he missed our group photo and will hopefully add it to this post.

From Daren:  Last minute entry in Dorchester Half on Friday night seemed like a good idea.

A few points:

* Going blind of the course

* Shocked by the crazy hills out of Dorchester on the Poundbury Road

* Unexpected 2nd place overall

* Only photo of my medal and award

* Overall time was 1hr 29min

I did manage to meet up with the YTRRC crew for a quick chat, which made waiting for the race to start fun and enjoyable; luckily they managed to get a photo of me. Looking forward to the next one.

Studland Stampede

From Andy: Studland Stampede completed for this year. The course is a loop around the headland of Studland Beach. There’s plenty of soft sand and the views are amazing. This year I ran it slower but it the sand was softer and definitely hotter.

Weekend Running

From Mark:  SUNDAY SLOW AND STEADY FROM SOMERTON. An interesting route from Andrew this morning, incorporating paths and fields entirely new to the group. Tea and cake in the car park afterwards as usual.

From Ali: Sunday 10K group run this sunny morning out to the potato cave and back. Followed by the cafe stop at Goldenstones afterwards.

From Helen: Sunday long run complete well done us 12 miles with the gang out through Montacute, Stoke, Ham Hill and back well please with how it went for everyone, especially with 4 of us doing a 4 mile loop beforehand as always a lovely social after with my yummy pecan pie bars thanks for the company all, lush morning with you all.

Park Runs

From Jo:  So today at Weymouth parkrun was a tale of “it was her fault”, “no, don’t blame me” . We were meant to be taking it steady, Anne-Marie Morris after a super speedy track session last night & me recovering from man flue & with Weston Super Mare half marathon tomorrow!! But when the two of us run together, life has different plans . I always go off too fast which then resulted in Anne-Marie choosing, yes choosing to chase me down!!! Inevitably (she is much quicker than I am ) she caught me right on the final (ish) bend!! We both finished with great times & then asked ourselves why? .

It must have been a morning for fast times as congratulations must go to Donna Reeves on her PB, I know she has been working to hard to achieve this & today she totally smashed it .

Also really happy to have finally got to volunteering credits . Final note of the morning - if we ever need to have an easy run, please someone split Anne-Marie & me up.

From Margarita:  Longrun Meadow parkrun. Today we headed to Longrun Meadow parkrun, one I’ve done before but always enjoy coming back to. This time I was joined by Dee, her daughter Jade and Jade’s boyfriend Jamie. We all arrived with our own little goals for the morning. Jade’s goal was to find a cute coffee place, Jamie was taking on his second ever parkrun, Dee had her eyes firmly set on a sub-30, and I was simply hoping to get around and see how the legs and lungs were feeling ahead of tomorrow.

Jamie absolutely smashed it, finishing in 22 minutes — what a result for only his second parkrun! And Dee… WOW! She didn’t just turn up hoping for a sub-30, she went out there and absolutely smashed her target! Seeing her achieve that goal was brilliant, and she should be so proud of herself. Sub-30 club, Dee! I’ve still got my eyes firmly on that sub-30 myself! And me? I made it around without my legs or lungs giving up, so I’ll take that as a win! Especially with the Weston Half tomorrow. Then it was time for the most important part of the morning — food! We headed to Corner Club in Taunton for brunch, and it was an amazing choice. Good shout, Jade! The perfect way to finish a lovely morning. And then there were tutus… Apparently today marked 22 years of parkrun, which obviously meant tutus were required! Well… apparently not for everyone! Dee and I turned up in ours, proudly wearing our tutus, only to discover we were the only ones. I got congratulations for a birthday, congratulations for a wedding and was even called a fairy! Even the volunteer scanning my barcode questioned the tutu. I mean… surely they should have known it was a special occasion?!

So, did anyone else know it was 22 years of parkrun today? And more importantly… did anyone else turn up in a tutu? A very lovely morning with lovely company, plenty of laughs, some brilliant running achievements and a delicious brunch to finish it all off.

From Mags: Nice little leg stretch before tomorrow's marathon. Lovely 1 lap course around the beautiful park Cytadela. Gareth Davies, thought I would never say this but I'm starting to like Parkruns.

From Helen:  A lovely social morning out at Fordingbridge Parkrun celebrating Linda’s 300th parkrun amazing milestone achievement so well done you and Rachael’s Birthday woop woop . All enjoyed a delicious farm shop brekki after and cake for some

Thanks for the running photos Steve and for driving Sam

From Sue: Local parkrun tourism today a friend and I went to Shepton Mallet, very pleased to be 1st in age group after such a long time off of running. Hopefully this is the start of better things to come . Breakfast at Dobbies afterwards was a good reward for the drive.

From Donna:  Over the moon I got an overall PB today at Weymouth summer course. 29:02 with age-grade score 68.77% I put 100% in and had no more to give. I was sweating buckets when I got back to the car that another parkrunner said I looked like I had been swimming.

This is my 3rd sub 30. And as they say things come in 3's I might just enjoy the scenery more at parkruns and not wear myself out.

From Sharon: A weekend away to Woolacombe so, of course, we decided to do the local parkrun. Race Director really didn't sell this one in his first timers brief but all in good fun! Loved the start (downhill ish), enjoyed the beach and then all that was left was to tackle the Dune of Doom before more undulations and the hill to the finish. Super friendly and bizarrely me, Tim and Honey really enjoyed it. Tim however not being a morning person failed to take his parkrun number with him. I think this makes me first Yeovil by default?? Tim finished in just over 30 mins with Honey and I hit the finish funnel a little after that.

From Steve:  My 99th parkrun and 50th different location. 3 laps around a lake and into a nice wooded section alongside a brook. 13th overall and 1st in age. Went over on my ankle in the 3rd lap and now very swollen ……, hoping no damage done ….going to start wearing bubble wrap!

PUB RUN – YETMINSTER – (1ST OCTOBER 2026)

From Mark:  Guy led one fast group tonight, and Rob led a second fast group. Daphne led the not so fast group which included Daphne, Alison, Sue, Mel, Louise, JC, and myself. Mike walked alone, and Phil ran alone.

Leaving the pub, we soon went off-road, and were later running down a ploughed field with the sun setting up ahead. We continued on lanes in an anti-clockwise loop, and met Mike walking up a hill. Coming back into the village we passed the church and other old buildings before doing another small loop going past the station, before returning to the pub. Thanks for the route Daphne.

The pub food was good.
