The Great West Run.               Full Results

From Linda: Today I support the Great West Run. Boy it was hot and I didn't run! Got all 20 of us to the start and sorted out a running place for Stephen Warren. So I saw them off from outside the start. Got a few photos towards the end it photo not brilliant. Treated myself to a lush icecream. Rude not to! Everyone did well considering it was so hot. Well organised but the finish goes need to be tweaked!

From Bungy: First of all a big thank you to Linda for organising this and the Club for paying for the Coach, it was nice to see a coach with a back set of seats and a DJ but not sure where the Bar came from and the singing was a bit dodgy.

As for the Race there was a Half and a 10k, in the 10k Debbie Keeble with 1:07 and in the Half Ann Grace was first over the line in a time of 1:44 and Steve Lye was the first male in 1:47. These results are for only for those that had Yeovil Town RRC. The heat was a tad hot and we found out that Exeter is not a flat city. The Fire Service had an Engine on course to give you a soaking if you wanted and there was also a few water pistols as well. All in all it was a great Club event and we are looking at running this again.

Weekend Running

From Amanda:  Cavity Trays run. Tim Willis led us on a beautiful route in the cool early morning, quite a lot of trail, some new to me. It was lovely to see Phil at the start and Sharon and Julie en route. Of course Honey was the star runner as usual.

From Andy: Eight go mad in Dorset! Fantastic Bank Holiday Monday morning for a YTRRC group to recce the middle 15 miles of the Ham to Lyme route - but boy it was hot! We set off from Crewkerne Station at 08.30 on Leg1 c6.5 miles to Winsham Village Shop & Post Office which was open (note for anyone doing same!) for topping up with water etc, then set off on the 2nd Leg another 9+ miles via Forde Abbey and up and over to Thorncombe Village and then finally up and over Lamberts Castle (exclusive ancestral castle tour included , then down to Coney's Castle car park (just shy of Aid Station 3), in just under 4 hours, for an impromptu picnic - and much water and coca cola was consumed! Thank you Da Riush Broniszewski and Rach Pep for assisting with logistics on return legs before and after. Great day out, great company always, bring on H2L 04.07.2026!

Park Runs

From Louise: Shepton Mallet Parkrun for Me, Rachael and Jesse today. It was a Park walk for Me but great to be back.

From Donna: Exeter Riverside for me to get my 'E' only my second vowel. I also need 3 different E's for the name challenge. Had to take it easy as pulled thigh muscle on Thurs so didn't want to chance it, luckily it was a nice flat course so I was able to enjoy the scenery.

From Linda: Today we travelled to Tetbury Goods Shed parkrun. Left grey Yeovil at 6.30 am but soon brighten up on route. I choose this one to complete a Parkrun Challenge 'Match of the Day' I had to find an event that matched my event number. This was Steve Membury 2nd parkrun and he smashed it out of the bag. I ran with him as I have sore ribs and the dog was poorly, we left him at home. Beautiful run. 2 laps, some inclines but mainly flat. I was told sometimes they change this route if they have cows grazing in the meadow. Then it's an out and back route. Definitely do this one again. Everyone is so friendly, all marshals and the cafe and staff was amazing. Steve got a PB and he enjoyed it.

From Lesley: World tourist and jettsetter completed here in Copenhagen! Lovely parkrun. Three laps around Faelledparken. Very friendly and sooo laid back! Lovely brekkie. Flight home later.

From Margarita: Seaton parkrun for us today, very hot and those pebbles were hard. Lovely to see Jo Farrant and Andy Farrant.

PUB RUN – ASH – (21ST MAY 2026)

From Mark:  A pleasant warm evening with some sunshine. Ann and Stephen ran fast tonight, going off road, and observed a lot of nature (including fox cubs and a Crane). Ann also had a close encounter with a friendly cow. JC and myself ran not so fast. Phil ran alone, and Mike walked alone.

Leaving the pub we ran down into Martock, and up the main street to the petrol station. We then headed out to Coat, and then to the traffic lights at Stapleton Cross. We climbed back up to Ash, then ran a second smaller loop around the village.

The pub food was good. Thanks Phil for organising.
