Stourhead Trust 10

From Andy: A beautiful sunny morning to meet with some of my 4 legged cousins ... plus 134 humans (a record turnout) ... for the last Trust 10 of 2025. The trail starts outside a very big house, running ups and downs with some flat bits, circling around King Alfred's Tower, before heading back to an uphill finish. Rosie and I both took an early lead in front of our humans (Kirsty and Andy) who just about managed to keep up with us all the way to the finish line! I pipped Andy at the post with a doggie-best of 59m21s, with Rosie finishing just a few mins later, beating Kirsty over the line by a length! As it was the 10 year anniversary of Trust 10, we all got one-off special medals  I'll have to wait until April to run it again (it's half an hour in the boot, and I'll need to save up my pocket money for the £4 to park). Andy says its a great 10k trail run, very similar to park run set up without timing, and feel free to bring a 4 legged friend for company!

Lakes 10km

From Terry: So Poole round the Lakes 10km, a race I always used to do on Boxing Day. A very wet race, but it's well supported with some quality runners who I noticed as they lapped me . I enjoyed it even with 3 laps. Finished in 53.19, pleased with that. Ken even took a Yeovil Team picture.

Taunton 10km

From Emily: 1st Yeovil lady (the only ) at the Taunton 10km this morning. Happy to have cracked the hour in 59:54 (only just!) Lovely course and beautiful sunshine so see us around.

Black Nore 10k

From Helen: Black Nore 10k, Portishead, complete that was a tough one very hilly and lots of tricky coastal path terrain but I really enjoyed it . Well done mum for on your age category award. Nice to see Chris Parker and his partner Emily … well ran by you both, particularly Chris coming in 46mins . Now to relax with family and enjoy a nice roast later.

Newton Abbot's Ladies Race

From Ann: Well what can I say about today apart from the Newton abbot's ladies race was definitely fun from the start we all caught the coach at 7am for an hour and a half's trip , we arrived just under a mile to go and our coach got stuck we definitely wasn't going to fit where we was supposed to go. So we all piled out the bus and walked to the start with the marshal. 10am on the dot 220 people started on what was a beautiful sunny morning great conditions for a lovely scenic run we had plenty of hills but to be fair a few down hills too with some flat areas . The marshals were all lovely its run by an amazing team and there so welcoming and supportive of all runners. They have said because we turned up for a few years and supported them that they were going to add our race to there championship list next year so thats amazing. There was lovely cake and drinks being sold. Everyone from yeovil town rrc really done there club very proud. Everyone done amazing so well done ladies my self and felicity both said at the start this was going to be a fun run that lasted for all of 5 seconds . Felicity came first for age and I came first for age too. We both got a lovely flask with first for age which was a lovely keep sake plus the lovely picture we got for finishing. Phil, Dave, and Adam and stacey and andy came to support us ladies and what great support they gave us. We had a lovely driver Dave that took us all. We even went to the icecream shop for a treat after . Sorry forgot the walk back to the coach after.

Park Runs

From Adam:  Eden Project parkrun today. Great course but as expected definitely not flat! Followed by breakfast and a free visit to the project.

From Linda: Bideford Parkrun done today. A flatish 6 lap course around a park. Not the most exciting course but friendly enough. 142 runners and I came 2nd in my age group. Fastest time for a while, so happy with that. Chilling for the rest of the day before we do some more coastal path walking tomorrow.

From Margarita: Today we went to Three Brooks parkrun for my 50th parkrun. Thank you Andy Fielding for your support and lovely to see Tim Moores. I also met my Manager who I've been working with for the last 6 months but never met in person. A lovely 2 lap out and back through the nature reserve.

Weekend Running

From Kevin:  Natasha Turner led a speedy 10 min mile group in Helen Nesbitt absence , great social run. Coffee in Ninesprings cafe . Great to see Bungy in cafe with his grandson a future 100 marathon club member no doubt.

From Mags:  Trail gang's visit to Dorset was an electrifying route curtesy of Andy. Surprisingly nice sunny weather, enjoyable 14.5 miles with just under 1500ft of climbing. Long story short, we took several wrong turns, Andy got electrified by an electric fence, Gareth fell over once, and after all we went to the pub for well deserved drink at the Skippers. On another note, I think it's time to say goodbye to my beloved Sense Ride 4s.

From Ali: Sunday 10K group this mouth a run out towards Hardington through the Cokers. Baby lambs and baby cows on route. Good to see the others in the cafe after.

From Ann: What a great morning doing the cavity trays run nice 8 mile run for most, some of us ran there or ran home to make up the miles , the route was lovely we've done it a few times few more cows this time and hunny enjoyed the water troff for a cool down and drink not sure any of us liked balls hill and all moaned . But we all got it done so well done everyone, Sharon went of on her own and Denise marathon Mike and Dave mears walked together while Phil done his own thing. My self , tim, natasha,,Ellie, lill, Debbie, paul cable who's birthday it was happy birthday think that was everyone ran together . And after some went for breakfast at number 5. Thanks everyone really enjoyed this morning.

PUB RUN – EAST LAMBROOK – (25TH SEPTEMBER 2025)

From Mark:  The Pub Run had a good turn out tonight, but the not so fast group had just four (Kate, Louise, JC, and myself). I think the other groups were Phil running alone. Rob and Rachael running off-road, and getting lost. Guy and Ann running fast, and Stephen, Lindsay, Mel, and Alison walking. Gareth ran over the long way from Yeovil. Fez was also there not running. Sorry if I have missed anyone.

Not so fast, ran a clockwise loop which included New Cross, New Cross Hill, Stembridge, Rusty Axe, Kingsbury Episcopi, Broadmead, Gawbridge Bow, and Hawthorn Hill. It was cool, and the sun descended as we progressed. The sun was setting as we ran westward back towards the pub.

I would say that the food was generally very good tonight. Thanks Phil for organising.

From Lindsay:  Pub Run (walk in my case) at East Lambrook last night with Alison Griffiths Mel Cox and Stephen Warren. It was a lovely evening so we decided we would head to the Rose & Crown at East Lambrook for the pub run. What a lovely pub this is. Great surroundings and great food, when we finally got it.

A small group of 4 us went out for a short walk around the village with a mix of road and trail, collecting a couple of juicy red apples along the way. We passed burrows hill cider place that looked very inviting with people drinking and music playing lol. the dark soon started creeping in and Robert Adams and Rachael Jones managed to bump into us during our last mile so we all jaunted back to the pub together where we were joined by Bungy Williams, Fez, Louise Ward, Mark Larcombe , Gareth Davies, Kate, John Curtis, Phil Mac Quaid and Ann.

A lovely evening to get out and catch up with great running friend's.
