A Day of Halfs
Released On 3rd Aug 2025
Totnes 10k
From Helen: Totnes 10k complete it’s a tough one…with hills and actually 11k! but we’ve decided we love it . Well done to mum who not only bagged her age category award (lovely trophyand bottle of red) but also got the course record for her age category for which she bagged £25 . Fantastically organised race, great marshals and delicious cakes.
Stur Half
From Margareta: Stur Half today with Tracy Symes, a hilly start then undulating through the country roads. Lovely to run with Tracy and see some Yeovil Town people there. A nice ice cream after our efforts.
Isle of Islay Half Marathon
From Harriet: Isle of Islay half marathon for me today. Ran it with my sister and I'm glad I did! Tough, undulating first half and, believe it or not, felt very warm for the west coast of Scotland! I'm just pleased to have run my furthest distance since Yeovil half 2024.
Grand Canal Canter Half Marathon
From Chloe: Shaun Powell and myself did the summer Grand Canal Canter Half Marathon this morning in Tiverton. If you like flat courses this one is for you! Up and back along the canal path. Small friendly race starting early at 8am. Really enjoyed it. (No club vest for me I’m afraid as sports shop is STILL waiting for the T-shirts to come in).
Wessex 10k
From Jo: So, it was not a championship race so there were no points up for grabs but we still had a fantastic turn out of green & whites at tonight’s Wessex 10k. I am sure I heard the guy on the mic at the end as we were coming in say “here comes another Yeovil Town RRC runner, is there anyone left in Yeovil?!!!” Not only was it a fantastic turn out but we filled the podium places too!! Joseph coming in 3rd overall. Amy taking 1st lady & Kayleigh taking 2nd lady. We also cleaned up across the age categories. Awesome running by all - well done, we did our club proud. Lesley Nesbitt, maybe a championship race for next year?
Weekend Running
From Ann: A lovely run from cavity trays this morning my self , Tim Willis , June Moule , Mel Cox ran together and Phil Mac Quaid and David Mears ran together and Mike went off on his own what a lovely half trail and road run it was ,but rather hot . Park Runs
From Jo: Great turn out for the green & whites in our club vests of Yeovil Town RRC for today’s Frogmary Green Farm parkrun. Massive congratulations to Simon Eadon on his th Parkrun. This is a phenomenal achievement.
From Margareta: Celebrating Tim Moores 250th Parkrun. Congratulations Tim, here's to many more... Dressed as a dinosaur.
From Louise: Upton House for the U has definitely gone to the top of my list of favourite Parkruns. It's 2 big and 1 little loop around the Park and woods, a bit undulating but nothing too bad. Cheaper weekend parking of £2 as long as you leave by 10.45. Café, beautiful gardens and at the moment a glass art exhibition. Thanks for driving Rachael . It was a really fab morning out in the lovely sunshine . Also if you are celebrating a milestone they give you a cape to run in with the number on!
PUB RUN – BOWER HINTON (HURST) – (31ST JULY 2025)
From Mark: There were just six of us tonight with Phil, Mike, JC, Ann, Mat, and myself. I ran not so fast with JC. Leaving the Pub in Hurst (to be accurate), we ran northward to Martock, and up the main street to the petrol station. Then turning left, we ran out to Coat. Turning right, we then ran eastward to Ash, passing the traffic lights at Stapleton Cross. Passing the pub, and turning right, we then ran down Martock lane back to Martock. It was a nice dry sunny evening with a cool breeze, but a little humid as well. These were great conditions for a run, with some nice views. For the last leg, we cruised back down the main road past the church, and into Hurst. I believe Ann and Mat had fun going off-road and struggling with crops, cows, and overgrown vegetation. The meal in the pub afterwards was good, with homemade fruit crumble as afters. Thanks Phil for organising.
