Brighton Marathon Full Results 10k Results
Today saw 7 Club runners head to Brighton for the marathon and I think just one in the 10k. Adrian Kettle was the first Club runner over the line and on the 10k we had Rach Jones. Great running by all.

Weekend Running
From Linda: OK not the best picture in the world but 6 of us set off to help Amanda complete part of her 18 miles training. We did 10! The rain held off and the heavens opened up once we got back to the cafe....then realised poor Amanda is still running out there! Lovely route. I think I've sweated out all the wine I had last night.

From Tim: We started cold but stayed dry for the Cavity trays Saturday run. Soon warmed up with a few hills. Andy Lambert and Mel Dodge achieved pbs going up Stone Lane with Andy saying he is taking it easy for his marathon next weekend.

From Ali: A lovely sunny morning for a social 10K run with great company. A trip out to Compton and back.

Salisbury 10m
From Margarita: Our 10 mile for the hat complete with Salisbury. This was an undulating, hilly course with fab views. A t-shirt for finishing. Lush to see Tim Moores and Rachel Moores marshalling.

Park Runs
From Kate: Whinlatter Parkrun this morning, the UK’s highest elevation gain parkrun. It was absolutely stunning. A one lap course through the woods with a loop towards the end. It’s up, up, up and more up but you are rewarded with views of Derwentwater Lake and the surrounding fells, which today were snow capped, making it even more beautiful. I’ve never seen so many runners stopping to take photos. You do get an ace downhill but it isn’t until the end! A favourite parkrun for sure.

From Rach: A busy weekend in Brighton but managed to fit some running in! Enjoyed Preston Park Parkrun yesterday 772 runners as the Hove Parkrun was cancelled as they were busy setting up for the marathon, followed by Brighton 10k this morning. Well organised and a really nice T-shirt and medal.

From Donna: Melksham parkrun for me today. 1st in age group. Loved this one. It was there first time on summer course this year. Definitely recommend as a varied course. Lots of twist and turns. Course was mainly tarmac but over a ploughed field which marshals had trodden down to make a path and then around a football pitch. Toilets on site with limited free parking. Coffee and cake for £1.

From Trevor: Stratford upon Avon parkrun done, now to a mystery guide.

From Margarita: On the way to the tulip festival in Devon today so we stopped off at Simmons Park parkrun. A lovely twisty course, 3 up and backs, 2 times over the bridge and 1 lap around the finish. 3-2-1. This is their 72nd event so a fairly new one. If you get a chance it's a good one to try but quite confusing. It makes more sense running it than writing it.

PUB RUN – SANDFORD ORCAS – (9TH APRIL 2026)
From Mark: We were back at the Mitre Inn in Sandford Orcas tonight after a gap of several years. Ann and Guy ran fast. Linda, Rachael, Mel, JC, and myself ran not so fast. Stephen walked with Phil. Gareth, and Fez didn’t run.
I led Not-So-Fast on an anti-clockwise loop which was all on road (country lanes). It was nice and sunny tonight but quite cool. We ran past the church, and weathergrove farm heading towards Marston Magna. We turned left and ran through Rimpton. Past the other side we turned left at Heaven’s Door. Next was a steady climb to an open and sunny hilltop. Turning left we descended back down to Sandford Orcas, passing a hidden café on the left.
The old pub was great, with uneven stone floors. I think we sat at the same table we had last time several years ago, and the food was good. Thanks Phil for organising.
