A fun weekend with the Yeovil Running
Club at Stourhead!!
Sunday 23rd September sees the 2012 KING ALFRED’S TORMENT – seven
Irish miles of mud and hills!
If you’ve not had a go at this race, you’ve not lived – the
hills seem to get bigger each year, but the views around the
Stourhead Estate and King Alfred’s Tower quickly take your mind
off them!
If you want a free work out, join us laying out the course on Saturday
22nd September –
we meet at the National Trust car park at 9.30am, drive round to
the tower and then work our way backwards round the course
laying out the flags as we go, with lunch at the National Trust tea
rooms part way around – a pleasant day’s exercise in good
company.
Many hands make light work and it would be
good to see you!
Sunday 23rd then sees the race
itself – which starts outside the
Spread Eagle
Inn, Stourton at
11.00 a.m. (Race HQ and race parking in the National Trust overflow
car park). The course is a tough one but the sense of
achievement is complemented by the "burnt cake" you receive at
the finish!
If you aren’t up for therace but can help
with marshaling on the day or for race details contact
Phil MacQuaid on 07866 357808 or see
him at club nights for
further details.
All finishers receive a burnt
cake!
