There is a new look to the awards and championship this
year (2012), in an effort to make it more competitive. In
particular the championship will now consist of a number
of rounds with three to five events in each round.
Members may accrue championship points for only one
event in each round. The championship has also been
opened up to all members (not only first claim club
members) provided they enter as Yeovil Town RRC and wear
the club colours, changes have been made to marshaling
points and how they are included in the championship
reckoning, there are the new "distance champion" events
and there is also the new mini-slam hat. It is important
that you familiarise your self with the new rules which
can be found by clicking
here.
Adam Hawkins has agreed to continue the members' only 5k handicap series. Open to
paid up club
members only (paid up members are those who pay their
subscription by 30 June each year or, for the purpose of this
race series only, new members joining after that date), the series will take place at Yeovil Town Football
Club at 6.30 on Tuesdays on a monthly
basis - as an alternative to the club run on the relevant dates
- dates to be announced. full details of handicap scoring to be
announced.

effort is made to provide accurate details it is up to you to
confirm for yourself that any particular event is actually to
take place, the date and time.

page. The club (YTRRC) cannot be held responsible should any

As well as the championship the club also awards hats to
members for achieving certain goals in any year - details below.
The "Real Runner Hat" is awarded to all members of the club completing their first
competitive event. To claim your hat please contact Debbie Neal,
(0780 701 4840 or
email) with details of the event (important) and your race
place and time (not important).
New for 2012 is the "Mini Slam Hat". By popular demand
and in an effort to encourage members who do not wish to
train for the longer distance races (marathon and ultra
marathon) the 2012 sees the introduction of the "Mini Slam Hat"
which will be presented to members completing races at a
selection of race distances up to and including a half
marathon in the period of one year from one annual dinner/presentation
night to the next.
The distances are:
- 5 kilometres
- 5 miles
- 10 kilometres
- 10 miles
- Half marathon
To be awarded your hat please e-mail
Lee Holloway
with details of a race you have completed at each distance
giving full details of the event (results link if possible),
the date of the event, your time and position.
The club "Grand Slam Hat" is presented to members completing races at
a selection of race distances up to and including a marathon in the period of one year from one annual dinner/presentation
night to the next.
The distances are:
- 5 kilometres
- 10 kilometres
- 10 miles
- Half marathon
- Marathon
To be awarded your hat please e-mail
Lee Holloway
with details of a race you have completed at each distance
giving full details of the event (results link if possible),
the date of the event, your time and position.
The "Super Slam Hat" is presented to members who do
that "little bit extra" and, in addition to the distances for
the Grand Slam Hat, also complete an ultra marathon race. To qualify as an
ultra race the event has to be a "recognised event" (by the
club's committee) over a distance of in excess of 30 miles. If
you have any doubt that the event you are planning to take part
in will be a "recognised event" please check with a member of
the committee at least seven days before you take part. There are many well
established ultra races on the calendar now and these will obviously
be "recognised" but if you have any doubt about the race you intend to
take part in
please do check first to avoid disappointment.
Claims should also be made to Lee
Holloway
with details of a race you have completed at each distance
giving full details of the event (results link if possible),
the date of the event, your time and position.
Please note that if you qualify for the Super Slam Hat you
will not also be awarded the Grand Slam Hat.
Important notice
It is your responsibility to claim your hat when you've completed the "set" of races.
To do this please email
Lee Holloway
the details of a race you have completed at each of the
distances giving the event date, name and your result. A list of
those qualifying for each hat will be published on this web
page, updated on a more or less monthly basis.
