Once again this year Annie Ashmead is in charge of the Club's
Championship and all results for Championship races should be
sent to her at annieashmead@yahoo.com(and Martin Chaffey at
martinchaffey@hotmail.co.uk for press releases please.
For all members, both new and old, here are the details of
the 2010 Club Championship. There are the equivalent of
46 races to choose from throughout the year,
culminating with the Gilly Hilly or Ilminster 10km in early
November, which means that we get to award the prestigious Club
Champion trophies at the Christmas meal
This year again the male and female Club Champions will be
decided on a "best 8 results" principle (as the Somerset Series
does); as well as the Points King and Points Queen for the man
and woman at the end of the year with the most points.
With there being such an incredible choice of races it has
been decided to really simplify the scoring system and just
award points on the basis of 50 for first placed club runner, 49
for second, 48 for third and so on (i.e. cutting out the extra 5
points that have previously been awarded for a category
placing).
As last year there will also be points awarded to
anyone who does a marathon with points awarded based on time:
i.e. the fastest marathon runner will get the 50 points, the
second fastest will get 49 points and so on, regardless of which
marathon you did. Obviously you will need to tell me that you've
done one and what your time was!
There will also be a 10 point deduction if the
committee find out you've run a race not in club colours!
