25. Colyton Fiver - Sunday 22nd

For all members, both new and old, here are a few details of the next Club Championships. There are twenty-five races throughout the year, culminating with the Colyton Fiver in late November which means that we get to award the prestigious Club Champion trophies at the Christmas Meal.

This year the male and female Club Champions will be decided on a best 8 results principle (as the Somerset Series does). However we will also have new awards for the Points King and Points Queen i.e. the man and woman at the end of the year with the most points wins; easy!

Points are awarded on the basis of 50 for the first placed Club runner, 49 for second, 48 for third and so on, regardless of their race placing - however, win the race or get a category placing (based on the categories to which we award, regardless of the prizes given out by the event) and you get 5 bonus points (so for ease of reference, that's M 1,2,3, MV40 1,2,3, MV50 1,2,3, MV60 1,2,3; F 1,2,3, FV35 1,2,3, FV45 1,2,3, FV55 1,2,3 - if you finish in one of these places, do let Annie know to make sure she's clocked it!)

Another slight difference this year is that there will also be points given to anyone who does a marathon - with points being awarded based on time i.e. the fastest marathon runner will get the 50 points, the second fastest will get 49 points and so on, regardless of which marathon you did. Obviously you need to tell Annie that you've done one and what your time was! There will also be a 10 point deduction if the committee find out that you've run a race not in club colours!!
