Do you want to lose weight or get fit?
Or is your ambition something more serious like running a
marathon?
The YTRRC Beginners and Slower Runners Group could be exactly what you
need.
For those new to running or for those returning to running after a break for
illness, injury, pregnancy or apathy and do not feel confident that they
could join in the club runs this is an ideal introduction (or
reintroduction) to running. You don't need any running
experience or to be particularly fit. If you can jog 200 yards
you should find no problems joining this group.
There is no requirement that you must join the club and there
is no charge. All you have to do is turn up!
The group meets at
Yeovil Town Football Club, Huish Park,
Yeovil BA22 8YF at 6.30pm each Tuesday evening. It is supported
by the Yeovil Town Road Running Club and operates under
the guidance of experienced club runner Debbie Neal
who will support you throughout and, if you wish, can
arrange for a "buddy" to help you start out on or get
back to
your running.
The routes followed vary in length from around 3 miles and up
to 5 miles or so. When you're regularly running 5 miles and,
perhaps, want to try further that's the time to think about
moving up to the full club runs. There's no requirement for you
to do this. You can remain with Beginner and Slower Runner Group for
as long as you wish, but the opportunity is always there!
The Tuesday evening club runs are supplemented by a
sociable
run, at the pace of the slowest, most Sunday mornings, meeting at
Montacute (on the first Sunday each month) or at Goldenstones car park to run at 9.00 a.m., and by dedicated
track sessions run by Tim Hawkins on alternate Friday evenings
(see calendar for details).
Further details can be obtained by contacting Debbie Neal on
0772 816 1164.
