COME TO ARGENTAN
with Yeovil Town R.R.C.
OCTOBER 2011

The club will once again be taking part in the Argentan Half Marathon or if you prefer, the 10.5K pairs relay.

argentan
This is what a night out in Argentan with Phil and Pete can do to you!

What is it?

A long weekend trip to Argentan in France involving food, fun and running (though the running is optional!)

When is it?

Friday, 30 September to Sunday, 2 October 2011. Full, but approximate, itenary below.

Who can go?

Club members (running, non-running or hobbling) and their other halves/friends.

What does it cost?

Approx £170, dependent on numbers, fuel prices and the euro exchange rate, which includes return travel from Yeovilton by coach and ferry, race entry, a shared room in a hotel, and breakfast on Saturday & Sunday. It does not cover food and drink. The locals may organise a "knees up" in the evening followinmg the race but whether or not they do so you can be sure that the YTRRC is sure to find a good source of food both before and after the race!

What is the race?

(Click here to see race website.)

It is a half marathon or 10K relay race with good pb potential over an undulating scenic course, mainly on country lanes but also a section of good forest track. It is well marshalled with several drinks stations, one of which has oranges, chocolate, raisins and sugar cubes on. Runners of all standards take part from about 70 minutes to nearly 3 hours, and there is lots of support from locals en route. There are pacemakers for 1h 35, 1h 45 and 1h 55 to help you get round without having to think about your split times.

For those who don’t fancy a half marathon, you can run the course as a relay, each running about 10-11km. You have to plan this in advance and organise your own partner as they get taken to/from the half way point by the race organisers. (It isn’t an ‘on the day’ option for those who’ve overdone the calvados the night before!).

At the end there are drinks, cake and chocolate. Free massages and a free swim are also available. Prizes are for the top 8 and winners are expected to speak in French at the presentation (A club member cunningly came in 9th one year but with a p.b. – a win, win situation).

There are also spot prizes.
